I'll keep it short since I like the idea that your handling of the boards is an over-compensating issue and another litte dig never hurts.  :)

For some strange reason, the thought pleases me that my posting here on this board upsets you to the point that you rage ban me from the official forums. Was it my posting here or the reporting Turbine to the AG? In either case, it gives me a warm fuzzy.

That's all for you...for now.  :)

To the general public:

Yesterday, I posted on the "Convenience" thread.  I think I was maybe the 5th or 6th person.  Obviously can't check now since the post is gone.  But to the best of my recollection it was high up in the chain.  I replied to the guy that said something like "I'm glad we've sorted out the concern with end game gear".

My reply as best as I can reconstruct it was this: "I really shouldn't even post here on this subject since I've quit playing the game but the sheer comedic value of this can't be passed up.  Are you saying you believe its settled because Sapience posted it on the official forums?  What convinced you, the bold text?"  That was it and it existed for something greater than a minute but less than five.

So, from zero infractions, zero warnings on that forum, to instant ban (and oh by the way, I'd not posted on the official forums since early December 2011). And to top it off, no explanation received.  I think that settles the truthfulness of Mr. Celestrata.

I invite your comments.  Do you think that post, as a stand alone incident is deserving of a ban or do you, like me, think there's more to it?  :)

The irony of the ban is that The Sap's ™ very next post was the one where he says, something like, "Consider this the first step on that long road".  :)

Edit: This weekend, when I have time, I'm going to dig up an old email from Turbine.  I'll post it here and I'll ask them to explain why they target life time accounts for enforcement of rules.  Straight from the horse's mouth.

Can you still log into those forums? If you can, you could try sending Celestrata a PM asking why you were banned. The rules probably state they need to send a reason when banning people, so I guess she would assume that people follow these and posted that statement in good faith. Sapience is her boss, so if he doesn't follow the rules then she can't really help/know that.

No, I can't.  But to be truthful, since I've not been posting there since last year, it's not a big deal. It's important only as an example of how The Sap ™ runs that board and the "new" direction that Turbine is taking.

The "new and friendlier" Turbine is nothing more than a sham.

I was perma banned because I told someone to "stop living in la la land". So yeah, sounds about right.

Well, folks, I'm off to grab a bite to eat and then bed. Maybe when I get up this evening I'll have heard back from Celestrata regarding the Moderation issue on my forum account (explained in another thread). I'm thinking they are just trying to discourage me from posting any further, without outright banning me. Good luck to y'all on your bans.

actually their rules state that they do not have to give ANY reason for any type of ban or infraction.

trust me i have had 3 accounts banned ( 2 perma, 1 with an expiration)

How do you know if they're perma? I don't see how you can see one way or the other from the red message at the top of the browser when you try to log in.

I don't see many people expressing their objections to the fact that Turbine continually removes or reduces stuff from the game whenever some 'new' idea on an existing system can generate money in the store. What I mean are the reductions in SM4 conversions, skirmish rewards, the overhauled relic system which resulted in their 'fantastic' relic removal scroll, ect. This has been my biggest peeve because I can certainly do without buying armour or ANY thing from the store, and harnessing some outside-of-self strength can even miss all the pointers to the store, even though I'm in 100% agreement that 'gear' of ALL types should not be available for cash. But when things are actually removed, reduced, and/or changed in order to make it a store offering, THIS is what enrages me and is the #1 reason I won't log in. It constantly makes me feel ripped off. Yet, there was no mention by the Sap about this issue, I'm assuming because it wasn't vocalized by as many as brought up the "convenience, not advantage" lie.

Unfortunately, given The Sap ™ rampage going on over there right now, you have no way of knowing whether anyone has brought it up or not.  They are on high alert and negative posts (or targeted posters) aren't lasting more than a few minutes.

because when i try to login to those 3 accounts at any of the community sites 2 say "You are currently banned from the community sites." and the 3rd says "You have been banned from this site for receiving too many infractions. Some infractions expire with time and your ban will be lifted accordingly"

was able to confirm it via the waste of time that is their appeal process.

Ok, thanks.  Mine is of the perma-variety then.  Cool.

what really pisses me off is that pre beta community sites a forum ban was just that.

now a forum bans means a ban from everything involving any turbine website but myaccount.

i tried to combat that during the appeals process stating that a forums ban should not include in game features.
the in game feature being able to access/login to mylotro/lorebook from in game.

they dont ban folks from the sites when they ban them in game and the reverse should also be true.

but since lil'Ricky is in charge of and part of the appeal process it doesnt really matter.

i also do not let something like a ban keep me from reading/posting on the forums.

I have zero interest in appealing and I don't even mind if they ban the account, not at this point. I have some serious questions to ask Turbine and this weekend, I will.  I think there are more people than me that will find some of their practices rather, hmmm, interesting.

I bring these up all the time. But between the stealth edits and outright deletions, few of these posts last any reasonable amount of time, especially in the official/semi-official threads where almost every post not giving all glory to the hypnoturbine is summarily deleted.

Oh the issue has been brought up, several times by myself, and I've seen a few other posts that complain about that issue, but it certainly doesn't seem to bear the brunt of topics such as the 'convenience' issue. I guess I'm just dumbfounded that not many people are feeling ripped off. I liken it to ordering dinner 1/2 way through eating it, the cook wants to change it so they remove it from my table and bring it back differently and ask me to pay more for it if I still want it. This is especially noticeable with the reduction in skirmish marks during their currency conversion. It's like they're saying, "you can buy it in the store, or grind more than you did before". I'm a solo'r and liked doing skirmishes, but not quite enough to grind them even more. I feel this ripping off will continue, especially since not many seem to gripe about it.

And that was the one and only message that you put that was considered out of line? Seems really harsh to be banned for just that. (not doubting you just saying it is harsh)

Not sure why Sapience seems to react so sharply to some of you.  Last night after he posted his letter I deliberately reached into his cage and bopped him several times on the nose.  I was sure I'd be infracted, -repped, or something over that.  Nothing.

I believe it's because he wants to try to turn you around, since you've been positively engaged with him before.  He thinks he can make you one of "his people."

I'm trying to remember a fable about a frog and a scorpion and a river, but I can't bring it to mind. ;)
