With all the debate over the barter wallet, I just wonder how many people decided to get it

For now, nope. I may succumb at some point, likely only if/when they put it on sale.

By the looks of the official forums and in-game comments, seems many have purchased it.

It's the future of LotRO--you know they added two rep factions with U6? One of them hands out a few barter tokens with each quest completion. I've been in Stangard for two days now and I've got over a hundred of these things taking up space in my inventory. Turbine is creative. Create a problem, sell the solution. No one really bats an eyelash because they're all glad to free up some vault space.

Wanted to but the one-time CC I have in my Turbine account ran out. Still plan to.

I'm sure it'll have some properties that piss me off but hey I want the bag space back. Plus there hasn't been anything else I felt forced to buy since I'm ignoring LIs now.

It wasn't a priority, but I had 1100 points, so I decided to go ahead.

In a way, I'm glad I did...I reclaimed about 20 slots on my main (and probably that many on my alts combined).

I have found that it has paid off in other ways: it hold items such as the token that you can barter for crafted relics and the "corpses" that can be traded to taxidermists.

If it had come with a shared bank, I wouldn't have quite as many reservations about it; as it is, I didn't want to hand over points for a fix to a system that was deliberately gimped from the start.

I'm in between the "not yet but I plan to" and the "are you mad".
I may buy it in the future...but then again I do have lots of tp saved up from vip. But then again, I'm not playing much. I finally gave in and will probably take my warden thru the new content and then get back to Rift. I had 3 other max level characters across 2 lifetime accounts, but those 3 lagged behind when I noticed how much fun I wasn't having fueled by turbines excessive greed.

I bought it with my lifetime points.

While my bag space wasn't a major problem, it had freed up some space. It's just a shame that the various tokens aren't bound to account too. If the ones from mirkwood, for example, had been like that it would have been nice to pool them all and spend them on horses/cosmetics/guide skills, rather than still have to grind each character individually.

The patch just so happened to coincide with my subscription running out, and since I was pretty pissed at the whole affair as well as tired of the game constantly crashing, I decided to, literally, vote with my wallet and not renew. For now at least.

Went back to Rift instead to be greeted with a few days of free playtime and marvel at all the improvements they give to players to encourage them to sub (a wallet, and free server transfers included). So now Trion gets my money instead for a month of two.

I disagree.
I paid for my lifetime by buying the Collector's Edition, which is now nearly 5 years ago.
How long are you saying I'm still paying for that, since at the time, the CE cost me around £155.
If game itself was £30, then the Lifetime was worth £120ish. At the rate of monthly subs at the time, that would've been paid over 12 months.
Are you saying we can't look at it this way, and that we're still paying for it?
Because, frankly, since some of us have been lifers since the start, saying we're still paying for the lifetime sub is ridiculous.

I checked my vault space and decided its not my first priority.
I voted ''not yet but planning to''  and if so I'll pay it with my lifetime TB points. but right now I don't want to spend them :P

Speaking of bound to account, does the wallet in any way change which items are bound to what?

On the official forums it seems to imply that the wallet is account-wide and that those currencies that previously were character bound are now account bound?

What about the unbound rep items?

I bought the Premium Wallet with accrued stipend points.

I've been waiting since the launch of F2P for those last thirty vault spaces to become available for in-game gold.  The original deal was, "Nothing will change for Lifetime account holders".  So, naturally, I figured I'd eventually be able to max out my vault storage with in-game gold - just like before F2P.  Otherwise, that would represent a pretty massive change.  (yeah, I know)

Fast forward 18 months or so, I'm a little more jaded regarding Turbine and have finally concluded that they have no intention of offering the remaining vault space for in-game gold and never will.  If I want 15 more slots, I'll have to cough up 895 Turbine Points - per character.  That's just the way it is now.

So, I went through all my characters, counted up all the bound barter items and realized I could free up 125 slots across all my characters if I purchased the Premium Wallet.  That comes out to exactly 8 Turbine Points per slot.  Compare that with the 59.6 Turbine Points per slot if you purchase a 15 slot vault upgrade and it's a no-brainer.  The Premium Wallet represents the best storage price point I will likely ever see (apart from opening another character slot for 695).

However, I didn't buy the Premium Wallet with free Turbine Points.  I don't get free Turbine Points - no one does.  There's an easy litmus test I like to apply in this situation:

- Would I still get 500 points a month if I *hadn't* given Turbine money up front or monthly?

If your answer is "No" then those points aren't free.  Sure, I may be getting a good return on my investment, but that doesn't make those points free.

If your answer is "Yes" then I respectfully ask that you 'spill the beans' and tell the rest of us how to get those 500 Turbine Points a month *without* giving Turbine any money!  I, for one, would love to know!

Well there is one way to get easy TP but it would cost a fair amount of in-game gold. What you do is make a new character, send them enough rep items (anything without level limits) to max them to kindred and then harvest the points. You get something like 35 TP for every kindred you make. So that's about 100 TP for at least 3 kindreds made. Do this 5 times and you've got your free 500TP and you could do this all in one day if you have the gold. Repeat every day for a month and you can get 15k TP.

I'm sure there's some problem with this but it seems like the easiest way.

I'm reject that any player should be charged for the wallet fix, due to the poor advertising and the initial release of the wallet.  Charging for the fix, to me, is the same as charging for class skills past level 50 or charging for skirmish soldier ranks after a certain level, as both would involve charging for a released mechanic that was put forth under the standard subscription rates.

On the other hand, when Turbine chooses to charge extra for a "premium" class or shared storage space, I'm all right with that, because those things were described as being "extra" from the start.  Furthermore, neither of those things pose an advantage in PvE/PvMP gameplay (If anything, the continuing warden changes sort of make buying the Warden class more of a bad investment.).

So, with regards to this wallet change, I can live without it.  Before the wallet, I learned to manage my inventory and used my barter tokens in a timely manner.  If I needed to tuck some away, then I could scrounge up the in-game money to expand my vaults (up to the in-game cash limit of 120 spaces per character) and deal with it.

Personally, I wish more people would try this way-of-thinking, but it would be arrogant of me to expect it.  Just know that there are alternatives to buying the wallet fix.

That is now the fastest way to earn TP. Before, levelling a character through the starter areas was. There isn't a problem with it, that's exactly how it works since rep items went 'click, click, click ad nauseum'. Oh! and it's is also 50 points per kindred as well. Kindred 20, ally 15, friend 10, aquaintance 5.

The $$$ you earn per hour seem very low there.

Is the point of that exercise that it is important not to reward Turbine with money for their behavior?
