- Even though most of the characters (I had about 30+ in total across a four servers) I created have to be unlocked with PP, a.k.a. Paragon Points, I was given eight free tokens to unlock the ones I wanted to play for free, even if they were all on one server. Compared to LOTRO F2P's allowance of one free character slot per server, I think I'm getting a better deal with CoH than I would if I were a free-to-player in LOTRO.
- All the content I had unlocked before my account went inactive was still there and available. That includes all the costume pieces, special powers and character slot maxima per server that my loyalty rewards unlocked.
- My loyalty rewards increased while I was away, and I now get to choose new goodies, including minor skill/stat modifiers. Amazing. NCSoft's loyalty rewards program for CoH is so dynamic and substantial, that I wish Turbine/WB would do something similar.
- I don't get to make use of the Going Rogue character mechanics (basically, the "toughness" improvements for characters who reach the level 50 cap - no, they didn't have to increase the cap to have characters be viable), but if I want to I can just buy the Going Rogue expansion, which would be a reasonable expense.
- Since I went on hiatus, they went back and improved the aesthetics of the place. It looks really nice now.
- So far, all the game zones my characters were able to enter before are unrestricted to me, including zone raid events.
- They improved their client software. It's much nicer than it was before and less IE-dependent.
It's a nice change-of-pace for me, when I've had enough of LOTRO lag for a night.
