Meh anniversary festival?

I don't like that they have held back the beer mug fight for so long. I was in the winter festival but then they removed it for the next winter, they were holding it back for this festival. I don't like it. It was fun activity and working code, it should have been made available to the players.
I don't like the clothing (let's get to the other "cosmetics" in a minute). The bathrobe^H^H^H I mean robe and the other items are looking very "flat" in a better word. Really cartoonish like just drawn on paper. To make matters worse they don't tint the dyes you apply like other clothing does, taking it from cartoonish to plastic.
Then there are "cosmetics" like the toon-in-a-box. I sorry I think it degrades my game experience when I see people run around like that. And they can do it forever, usage isn't limited to the festival. And Turbine refuses to give us a client-side option not display those items. I won't enjoy people riding around with the firecracker horse either.
The timing is all screwed up. The spring festival is very late now, in fact the anniversary festival started later than the spring festival normally does and god knows when the spring festival gets underway. Not to my liking since all the festivals are too bunched up now and the spring festival is my favorite but I'm much more busy in mid-may.
It's a festival, with festival horse race, festival mounts to be had, and blackjack, and hookers. I want to work on my inn league rep. Would it really have broken Turbine's back to also flip on the switch for the Inn League and Ale Association?
The wallet that I payed money for that I already regretted also has the nasty side effect that I cannot skill-slot my tokens anymore. I used that to keep a close eye on how many tokens I have on the various toons. No more, no it's all Control-B. Except on the lucky other account that didn't get the wallet. Who-hoo.
The lag really doesn't help either, nor the fact that in my opinion some individual there lied about the fix in 6.1 just so that the festival would have more of the affected people stop by and to give an excuse to close the original fact collecting thread. Lame.
I would have expected more. I mean the only reason why it's a fun activity is the beer mug fight that they "stole" from the winter festival, at the previous festivals' expense.
So this is what the 5 year anniversary ended up with? A stolen activity, hasty underdeveloped cosmetics, one silly and one normal horse and some fireworks? How much investment does Turbine think they should have done as a "reward" for all the old-timers?

I find that, where Turbine is concerned, optimism is a mayfly that lasts two seconds in the face of the blowtorch of experience.

It’s too bad for them too because the great river update is genuinely a very good release with decent PvE content. The last update to the creep classes was decent, mitigated by the foolish audacity and commendation implementation; still they did something with the moors. The festivals are a good opportunity to rebuild/refresh the community on how good Lotro can be. The negativity has turned to apathy for a few and that’s a killer because those are the people who will bring the Lotro community down. Yeah, I’m one of them, my expectations are high, very high.
Hope to see you in the Gw2 beta!

One of my kinmates is taking his lore-master and ramping up levels for end-game purposes with a combination of ( a ) the anniversary bonus exp, ( b ) Derudh's Stone, and ( c ) a Tome of Continuing Experience that he got as a drop, while running skirmishes. Needless to say, he's been very successful in this specific endeavour. The rest of the time, he makes due with the experience he's dealt. It's a matter of taste. In his case, since he's already seen the game from the bottom-up, so he's not cheating himself out of the "scenery."

I'm not opposed to the bonus. I'm opposed to it not having a switch. Some people don't want to outlevel the things they are currently working on. It's unfair to force this upon them.

ah, but there were many many complaints about it and i for one like the adjustments made to the code for the beer fight.
and i havent seen anything that says it wont be back for the winter fest either.
no hard rule that says you cannot have an event in more then one festival.

you seem to forget those were from kate's failed grindeversary from last year.
though i dont understand why they didnt bother to make it dye properly like the very well done azure festival clothing.
the cloaks and whimsy cosmetics they made for this years all dye very well.
Quote
then you dont like the drunk Inn League horse or the coin dropping treasure laden mounts either?
for me a i love a bit of whimsy.
i guess me running around all year looking like santy clause or tanking in a dress would bother you also?
Quote
meh..i can see your point here but as long as the spring fest is done and over before 21 june im good with it.
Quote
blackjack and hookers,huh?
i do agree that there shoudl ALWAYS be something for doing Inn League rep with ANY game wide celebration.
those dirty nasty dorf of the AA can just go jump into mt doom for all i care.
Quote
ya this one i agree with also, i did the same and also liked to slot stuff like silver branches and gold leaves.
you should be able to drag stuff in the wallet to a slot to track it if you so desire.
on the plus side the last time i check folks were working on a add-on solution to it over at lotrointerface.

as for the lag issue it doesnt really affect me as i only come back for festivals/celebrations and doing the Epic line when they add to it.
i havent done anything else since about the time ROI came out.
personally i absolutely love the fireworks quests and the lost invites searching.
i think its a 200% improvement over the fail of kate's grindaversary last year and is the best one i can recall.
i only got 2 real beefs with the celebration -
instead of a time cd for doing the lost invites quest you need to buy another chance from the store if you want to do it more then once every 24hrs.
and at 100tp a pop that can get expensive fast if the rng gods are being mean.
and i wish they could have added another gift box for those still here who did the closed alpha/beta in '06.

What I am saying is that they already withheld it for 2(?) winter festivals.

Oh yeah I didn't play that one so I wouldn't know.
Kate and her summer festival exclusively for people with neither job nor life. Stupid.

Those are better than constantly popping fireworks. The Inn Leage horse is also rep-gated, not a simple matter of going a few races and done.

It is one thing when a person goes out of his way to create something ugly with his own creativity. It is a different thing to directly go and offer it as a festival reward.
