We have three of the top fantasy MMO's releasing expansion content during the fall period of this year.

LOTRO: Riders of Rohan
RIFT: Storm Legion
WoW: Mists of Pandaria

Also, not forgetting GW2, which is likely to be a late summer - early fall launch. This is going to be a massive period for MMO's, and i'm rather surprised that the 3 (soon to be 4) big fantasy MMO's are all launching their major updates at the same time.

Does anyone else find this strange? Maybe it's the companies attempting to out do eachother? Whatever happens, it will surely be a great time for the fantasy genre of MMO's.

Q3/Q4 is a pretty common time to launch expansions, though. Also remember that these games all have different playerbases to a large degree now. While there is some overlap, LOTRO fans will generally stick to LOTRO, Rift fans with Rift, and Kung-Fu Panda fans with WoW. GW2 will likely be out first, and at least a month before these expansions, so I'd take it out of the mix.

The Secret World is really the only game that might suffer from coming out in this group, thus why it is being pushed out in early July. It will have enough problems dealing with GW2 beta events, it would get its ass kicked by the competition of three expansions launching when TSW launches.

One thing though: Y'all forgot about Neverwinter, which is launching this fall as well. It may be a Cryptic game, but still a big MMO launch.

I actually got a beta invite for WoW MoP. Not that it'll get used.

I looked at Secret World, not my style.
I looked at Diablo III, meh
I looked at GW2, still hopeful
I played Rift, not enough to keep me from Lotro.
I look forward to seeing what Neverwinter will be like.
Never have and will never play WoW.
Sigh.

If you looked at Diablo 3, methinks you also ought to look at Torchlight 2. They seem the same kind of gameplay, but nobody ever look at Torchlight, I wonder why.

If you're in to ARPG's, you should really check out Path of Exile.

I keep getting invites to WoW beta, but why are there question marks in the notice? My first instinct is that it's some kind of phishing scam, but it looks quite authentic.

Congratulations! You've been selected to participate in the beta test of World of Warcraft? Mists of Pandaria?

It may be that the question marks may represent a non-standard character for their mass-mailing system, like ™ or ®.  Still, be sure of the url path of every link in the e-mail before you do anything.

Are you a WoW player, or did you apply to be in this beta?  Otherwise I'd be paranoid.

Played a weekend of a 7 day free trial, didn't apply.

Rift's xpac looks pretty damn good.
