The forums have had the 'Down for Maintenance' page up for about an hour for me.

One thing I noticed from that Maintenance page is this;

Asheronscall.com

asheronscall.com expired on 06/01/2012 and is pending renewal or deletion.

Nice...

Right, it's expired currently so nothing in that domain is usable and it's been expired for 11 days. Nobody at Turbine watches that sort of thing?

Expired then -> Renew/Delete then -> Deletion = Anyone can buy it

What most companies would do is to take the asheronscall.com and park it on ac.turbine.com so they don't lose out on all the traffic, Simply letting it expire for the 9.00 a year it costs to keep it is pretty much just stupid. Not to mention keeping it as an active link on their Maintenance Page...

Anyway, just thought it was amusing when I saw it on the Maintenance page. Didn't mean to sidetrack the thread...

Should we buy the domain if it becomes available and redirect it here?

The former user gets precedence in a URL ownership dispute, to prevent people from buying newly expired URLs out from under existing websites. So while that would be funny, Turbine would win in the end.

As far as I can tell, LOTRO home, MyAccount, Turbine.com, anything related to Turbine.com (like DDO) is having issues. I was in game when that massive lag spike hit, and rode it out, and was still playing up until I quite about 3 minutes ago. I can hear thunder approaching from outside, so it may be that a storm took out something big locally perhaps, but the sat feed from weather network shows no precipitation over Westwood.  No comms either on twitter or facebook ( I tried looking for a facebook way to post to LOTRO, but can't find one, so I must be blocked from there, even though I can still Like it. My posts on twitter don't show either, so I don't even know if they are getting any comms at all from customers there either). One guy in game said he was committing game suicide even?!  Can u imagine how they aren't trying to communicate right now, 5 weeks prior to an expansion launch?  Business as usual for Turbine I guess.

FYI, I could still use the store in game, though some had issues with that as well.
How did buying a lifetime account become a free ride, and an example of not supporting Turbine? That money left my pocket and they took it. Free it was not.

well, if they have a malfunction of something on their office, they maybe can't even enter facebook/twitter easily; Don't know since when everything went down, but I think not everyone is allowed to post on twitter/facebook and if those we can are asleep, it's hard to post updates ;)

Bad weather? Did Turbine never fix their generators from the last time they all failed?

FYI, the store isn't run by Turbine, it's run by Playspan and is located elsewhere.

If I see the messages on facebook it went down about 6 am GMT, so that's midnight in USA? To be honest, I completely understand that people are irritated because of this, but I doubt you can expect from a rather small MMO what it currently is, to have PR/communication available within a couple of minutes 24/7;

If they don't have technical people working on it, that is a failure, but screaming for a lack of communication the first hours (or even minutes) is a little childish; And yeah, they fail again, but that won't surprise most of you.

If we haven't heard anything in 2/3 more hours, then they do something wrong, but so fast during night-time is not really fair to have as expectations

1am, it would've been. In any case, there is most likely someone who's on on-call during these hours, they'll have a rota of the people that deal with these things, should they happen.
I know when I worked in the IT Dept at Wigan Council, some of the 3rd Line guys, and specifically the Project Leader for IT Support were on-call on a rota basis, and had ways to monitor servers from home.

It shouldn't be that hard for Turbine to be able to do the same thing.

Welcome to these forums, Tantos.
Basically, we're all getting these messages. It's been down for a few hours now, I think.
It's most likely due to a failure somewhere in their internal infrastructure of servers.

Incidently, I see that rohan.lotro.com still works and you can still use the pre-order page, lol.
Oh, and the webshop is still up ;)
