read an interesting article over at pcworld about how when internet/tech companies screw customers they die and cite Digg and Zynga as proof while giving a warning to facebook.

first...i hope patience is doing all right still over at zynga with this happeneing.

but second i think Turbine would do well to read this article and take notice.

Got to be one of my top 10 favourite posts.

On a side note, something strange is going on in that thread. I recieved a neg rep yesterday and definitely from that thread. Not a problem, I have thousands. But today the neg rep is showing N/A. I went through that thread and all of my posts are still there. None are deleted. So what changed?

I don't know what's going on over there but I tried to give you + rep for that post and it said I needed to spread out rep before I give it to you again. The problem is that I haven't given you any rep recently, can Sapience turn off incoming positive rep?

Yeah, I've been having some rep trouble too.

As for the thread, jeez there's a poster in there who seems to love protecting Turbine, even if they break the law. They honestly blamed the customer when Turbine incorrectly advertised RoR in the beginning. Then said it was hard luck that Turbine won't give refunds.

Seriously, some people make me lose faith in humanity.

Probably. Of course they won't admit to such a thing, but they removed all but 50 points of my reputation without removing any of the posts I got maxed-out rep from, so it appears Turbine can manipulate the Rep system however they like.

I just managed to give Doro rep so it is working for me at least.  I should mention that this is the first time I have even given rep so that may have something to do with it.

Could be. It could also be that certain people here are blocked from giving Rep to each other, so as to avoid them "gaming the system", as Turbine would call it. Which is ironic, since many of those who got their Rep maxed out the fastest did it by gaming the system.

That really is irony at it's finest moment. When the Rep system first started Many of the Turbine sycophants got their rep from Sapience himself...

Probably just not enough rep shared with other people since the last time we gave rep to a person or something. I couldn't give any rep to a few people that I know I've given rep to before but that was 2 months ago.

Also, the thread is now locked. Apparently it was dangerous ground to sarcastically ask if someone is paid by Turbine to defend them. Unfortunately, the guy still remains in the mindset that Turbine's policies > the law. Even pointed out my distrust of Turbine as though it's a bad thing.

With the exception of last weekend, which is the weekend before major sports events, the normal login spike on Sturdays is gone and we are looking at a pretty good nose dive here.

However, there is an interesting trend of difference between the old US servers and all servers:

While all servers (lower chart) went down and down, the old US servers did recover recently.

I speculate that the difference is in sport events, namely the Tour De France.

I did see a slight uptick this week on the US servers, but I assumed this was due to the new Festival coming out.

And login servers are denying access to many people for hours on end ... apparently not cleaning up old connections among other issues.

Wouldn't higher login numbers also indicate that people crash/disconnect a lot and have to log in again? I got more crashes a day in ROI than I had in my entire time playing vanilla and Moria.

See, I thought this too. All those crashes people had during raiding in Isengard should be visible at around 6 - 8pm GMT.

Is it possible that logins were down the Saturday before last as a decent number of people may have logged into Bullroarer instead as I believe that is when Beta started?

I should probably collect data for Bullroarer, true.
