We all knew that this thread was going to end up deleted at some point, well that day is here. Interestingly enough I personally believe it's because of a slip made in the last post by Sapience where he acknowledged the issue wasn't fixed but simply had nothing new to report about it.

A related observation is the influx of new topics in General Discussion asking trivial questions the result of which bury any negative posts. Now this could actually be a lot of new players coming in for a test ride from Steam but the timing of this along with all the negative press about the Lag and lackluster Rohan expansion certainly raises an eyebrow.

The steam numbers are very unimpressive as far as we can see.

I didn't think Steam was the reason Darmokk.

Unfortunately I think it's also clear that the lag we have now is going to be permanent with no additional efforts to fix it being made...

There is no lag, just impatient people who want their toons responding to commands NOW.

I still vote for deleting the tons and tons of mob drop gear that aren't even good if you killed the mob 10 levels under to clean up the database.

It is an obvious play to pretend that the change is in networks, namely ISPs, and make people forget that it got 100% sharp introduced with their U6 code change.

Unfortunately most of the ongoing discovery was done on the forum where they can make the evidence disappear.

And what forum breakin last fall, anyway? Never happened.

looks to me like a pretty big jump soon after Steam.  I'm not sure why you think the Steam impact would have to be immediate.

It's certainly noticeable on Withy server. A lot of low level toons and a lot of questions in OOC and regional asking for help with gameplay. With Withy being the prefered server there was such an influx it made someone ask on the offical forums what he should do as he was having problems logging in (with the inevitable fanboi responses of course - see a recent thread over here for a discussion on it*-).

*can't find which thread it was in unfortunately, looks like it's buried deep somewhere..

Yeah, when I look at that chart I see about a 50% week to week jump. The numbers still haven't fallen to where they were before update 6. They're clearly on their way down but it's pretty obvious the peak on this chart correlates to steam promotions.

By "mount lag" do people mean the strange behavior where a horse will just freeze in place for a few seconds, able to turn around but not move forward or back?

I get that from time to time, but it also happened way before update 6.

They also mean that stable horse freeze up mid route and then disappear do to the lag. There was also an increase in skill lag and really any other lag problems. The stable horses not working is the biggest though.

Stable horses the biggest? To me, dying and rezzing at grams because its too hard for claws to work is kindve a bigger deal. If theyre broke, dont use them. I cant exactly not use my skills :P.

PvMP is a minority of gameplay though. Not something that affects every player. And since the workaround for stable mounts is to use the swift travel ones (something unavailable to those who have never been VIP) this problem is unavoidable for most players. If something as simple as a horse doesn't work in this game, then it doesn't really inspire confidence in new players or encourage them to spend money.

Oh yeah, I see your point, Ive never been VIP, and Im banned right now, so I couldnt if I wanted to :P. I dont like when people say "PvMPers are a minority so they dont deserve dev attention. Plus I dont like it, so fuck it, send it straight to hell." The Heydts LOVE saying that. (That wasnt directed at you, I was just saying :P)

Nah, that is a regular network interruption.

The lag issue is 2-3 seconds delay on e.g. Warden skills, and dismounting from rented horses.

That chart only shows numbers from this year, though. Overall, it wasn't a big jump when compared to where the game was, especially in the MoM days.

Not if you look at it at a longer scale to compare to where we were.

To be honest, I took a stable ride from Rivendell to Echad Dunann on an alt yesterday(lvling him up atm)and it didn't do anything weird. Note, this wasn't the swifty, as I hadn't done any questing in Eregion at the time.
