What style of weapon do you go with and why?

I personally use dual-wield because I like the faster attack animations, and seeing lots of numbers makes me happy.

I prefer to Duel-wield, yeah when you crit with a Two handed weapon it looks great but i think you get more sustained DPS with two weapons plus it feels quicker and smoother.

Mostly dual, but some 2-handers look so swanky I wave them around as cosmetic items sometime.

I prefer DW, I find that using 2H just makes things so sloooow. I also find 2H weapons tend to be unfeasibly large compared to their RL equivalents.

Since the last time i checked 2-hander was suppossed to be the higher DPS, so using that;

Not sure if that still is the case and my first First age weapon will be 2-hander, 2nd First age will be a 1-hander :)

I use dual for AOE situations and 2 hander for single target situations.

Well .. I prefer duel wield.

I stopped using 2 Handers about level 31

2 Hander's always rely on crits...

If you don't get a crit it's just a normal hit

compared to duel wield which atm my normal swift strike will hit the same a fully done up 2 Hander using swift strike.

I like duel wield also because yes of the speed, speed = more attacks = more damage.

Like I said up there ^^ my 1 hander now does the same as a 2 hander pretty much with my new set up so I'll be out doing 2 hander's already as I also have an offhand :)

But one day ( once I've finished warden :D ) I shall make myself a new 2 hander just for a massive 5K crit XD

2H, because of much higher single target DPS.
I may switch to DW when I get the new Offhand-Sword from OD.

For me, both have their uses.  A two-hander will pack a good punch, but it's dependent on one chance to hit or miss.  Two one-handers will be faster, but you're often guaranteed to get at least a hit by one of the two.  Aside from the practical end, there's a certain RP choice that comes into play for me.  My Man-champion uses a two-hander as a rule for presence and effect, but my Elf-champion will go with a sword and dagger combination for some very fluid animations.

I have switched over to a 2H from DW mainly because it seems (and I have no empirical evidence - just my sense of it) that when using AoE skills the mobs tend to drop a bit faster. And my Champ loves for mobs to invite all of their friends to come and play and he doesn't like leaving anyone out. :D

Beside, he's a Dwarf and it just seems appropriate for him to be dragging around a great, big axe to smack things with. :P

But, my Champ is nowhere near end game yet, so that could change again as he levels.

Several people did many tests in german codemasters forum with damage parsers.

Always with same result:
2H makes much more single target DPS. The people who are saying: 2H is just for big numbers are wrong. With 2H you do in fact much higher single target DPS!
Main reason for that are the brutal strikes.

For AoE-Dmg both are good. There seems to be a little advantage for DW, but it's marginal.

5k is not massive. >10k is a massive crit! Some people on Belegaer did a >11k crit on the leutnant's beast. And that was before the patch with under 8k melee offense. Now you can get >10,5k melee offense and therefore even higher crits ...

I can safely say I have never had power issues as a CHM. I'm a dual wielder & always have been. Post the next update (depending on what the final changes are) that might change, but at the moment I'm sticking with DW because of the disadvantages of 2H. Plus this is a game, not a spreadsheet. I don't min / max, and screw the numbers ! ;) I know how to swing a sword for real, and I can take your 2H down with a dagger. Trust me...  })
Good players adapt, bad players whinge; which are you?

I find that, where Turbine is concerned, optimism is a mayfly that lasts two seconds in the face of the blowtorch of experience.
