As my burglar turned 39 I was told to get some books from my burglar trainer and bought "Knee-breaker's Manual", "The Experts Guide to Dirty Fighting" and "The Book of Knives" (plus one more that made it possible to track, but seems I was only able to use this once?).

When I click on them I get the hourglass but nothing happens. Shouldn't they start legendary quests? Am I missing something?

They go into your deed-log. Look there - it'll tell you, what to do next.
(Usually it sends you to a special person related to your class. After you talked to it, you can start to collect missing pages)

You didn't think it'd be *that* easy did you?
When it comes to things in MMO's, always look to the grind...you'll generally find your answer there...

I wouldn't call these books a grind, at least for me they were not at all. All the pages needed to complete the deeds dropped during normal questing in the regions that are described in the deed log. Just don't expect anything else than humanoid mobs to drop them.

Before you could buy the books, it was (for me) a grind. AH prices on some pages and books (hunter especially) were ridiculous. Before that, you had to kill certain mobs for the pages aswell. Oh lordy...  When I first bought the 3 books from burglar trainer and just continued questing, all three legendary traits almost dropped to my lap. Best just keep on truckin' and keep killing sentient humanoids on Angmar, Misty and beyond.

I went out to collect the pages on my RK recently and got all but one page within a couple of hours. The last page finally dropped after killing over 500 Corcurs. I'd consider that a grind but at least I gained an assortment of reputation and crafting items from the ordeal. The 5 gold from selling the junk didn't hurt either.
