I really can't recommend this game enough if you haven't played it, thought I would post as it's 60% off until Friday and worth every penny.

Both seem to be working along the idea of games for PCs being played on different devices (TV, handheld). I wonder if we are begining to see the end of the traditional console and a move to one platform (PC) with the innovation coming in the devices those games are played on.

It certainly must be more cost effective for software developers to only have to develop for one platform and with the rising costs of game production this does seem sensible to unify under one platform.

Best Games of 2012

28 December 2012 - 13:35

Because everyone likes a good list at this time of year, my top 5 games of 2012 in reverse order.

5. Dishonored - A good fun game, decent story, awesome action.

4. Torchlight 2 - In my opinion much more fun than D3, it's what this type of game should be, fun, entertaining and simple to play

3. Guild Wars 2 - Initially I had no interest in this, thanks to beta reviews on these forums I started looking more into it and I'm glad I did, revived my interest in the MMO genre

2. The Walking Dead - A very close 2nd, tough one to call. Telltale games presented a compelling story that, like a good book, I found almost impossible to put down.

1. Mass Effect 3 - A controversial ending didn't ruin for me what was the end of one of the best series of games I have ever played. ME3 like those that went before had drama, action and tension in buckets. A fantastic game to end a fantastic trilogy. I can't say I was a fan of the ending either but up to that point I can honestly say that playing ME3 is the most fun I have had in any game.

What would be your top 5?

Designing Freemium Titles for Hardcore Gamers

Saw this article linked on Penny Arcade earlier, a very interesting artical about designing in frustration into freemium games. Its more talking about competitive gaming than MMOs but still make some interesting points.
