  1. Past hour
  2. You mean the person who posted the screenies from discord are trying to backpedal to cover their ass because someone informed them they could be in deep shit for breaking nda?
  3. Today
  4. This was a really strange one. A day or two later a different reddit name said that they had been impersonated as the Palantir person and were trying to clear their name. I recognized the original name from the OF, so if that's true, that's taking forum PvP to a whole new level.
  5. It's been deleted from Reddit, but a player of lotro with a youtube channel made a video. You can pause said video and read what I assume is the entire exchange. What I've concluded is that one of the requirements for being hired as CM of Lotro is to be a world class twat.
  6. There is a Palantir leak where Cordovan was arguing back and forth with folks about class balance. It was an interesting read (I won't post it here, but it shouldn't be hard to find).
  7. Every time I see one of those posts I am reminded of a Louis CK bit, even though he likes to get caught jerking it.
  8. indeed, sunken cost fallacy is pretty much why most overstay any type of relationship that would have ended under healthy conditions. the other is IP. if this was just a generic fantasy game with no source legacy behind it... this particular game would have died faster than Ashrons Call. MUCH FASTER! i doubt it would have made it to the first expansion. haven't had much time to delve into the BLIZZARD subject, or its cause AKA Activision... but man the industry may finally get the needed kick to the balls that has been building for at least a decade now. covering that shitshow though, is time i do not currently have. fortunately, it is in many other good hands elsewhere. ;) that is the thing about being a behemoth... when all those fans turn on you at the same time... the chunk they can tear off your sum parts, is pretty significant. !

    Moria soon on LS?

I noticed CKA has been quoting Doro some these past two weeks. I was briefly tempted... Then it passed.
  10. I imagine a lot of it has to do with the sunk cost fallacy ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sunk_cost#Loss_aversion_and_the_sunk_cost_fallacy ). When you've spent so much money on something, it's really hard to walk away (although a studio pulling a Diablo Immortal on you will definitely help).

    What are You Watching

Right now I'm working on Orphan Black (Season 3) and Star Trek: Next Generation season 3. I've got a bunch of stuff on Amazon Prime, Netflix, and Funimation that I'm working through, but simply don't have the time I used to =/
  12. Yesterday
  13. Much like killing for sport, overexpansion and the need to be at odds with someone or someTHING at all times, I think it's simply human nature to kiss ass. Back when Cordovan was hired and all the shills popped up with "You're doing a great job!" all I could think (and post) was "No he's not. He's literally not doing anything at all except banning paying customers who are dissatisfied with and publicly critical of the product." The clincher was when he complained on the OF about having to log in on the weekend to deal with Baba Ji spam, which is literally his job, yet all the usual suspects treated him like he was a saintly martyr for performing duties he is paid to perform.

Football. Edit - regretting it now. 2 hours would have been wasted, thankfully was playing LOTRO at the same time.

    What are You Watching

The person they takeover was about to die, and in a way they still do. Also as they are from the future all they know about the person they are taking over is based on public records and social media that has survived. It is made by the same guy that did Stargate SG1 and stars Eric McCormack. Plenty of other people making random appearances that were in Stargate
  17. I was actually shocked when they took your sarcasm for praise.

    What are You Watching

Hannibal - Incredibly art house, but a brilliant series that I keep rewatching. Star Trek: The Next Generation - Watching it again because I was young when I first saw it. Comfy as fuck. Westworld - Season 1 was the best, season 2 was a little slow. Mystery Road - Comfy Australian crime drama. Supernatural - I've got a soft spot for kino hunter brothers, but it's no where near as good as the first 5 seasons. That's about it really. I don't watch a lot of telly any more (and by that I mean using free streaming sites) because most stuff out lately has just been shit. Even when it's there and available to me for nothing, just a click of a mouse away, it's still not tempting. Sometimes I'll just stick on some brainless trash like a police show, border control, or a house buying show, just as background noise. Also, that Travellers show sounds like Quantum Leap.

    What are You Watching

Just wondered what shows people are watching Recently I have watched The Expanse - Amazon Prime - Really enjoyable Sci-Fi based on some book, season 3 just release with season 4 coming later in the year. Jack Ryan - Amazon Prime - A new show on an old character, was a enjoyable watch with some really good character development. Constantine - Amazon Prime - Fun DC comic, only half a season before being cancelled, but the character was well liked and is now on Legends of Tomorrow Travellers - Netflix - Interesting time travel show, where peoples consciousness are sent back in time to take over someones body before they die. They have to pretend to be that person as well as being themselves in order to try and change the past to save the future. Just been cancelled after 3 seasons but still worth a watch. Titans - Netflix - DC comic show focusing on Robin after he has left Batman, the violence is rather gory in places. This is a lot darker that the Arrowverse DC shows. Star Trek Discovery - Netflix - Season 1 got better towards to end and season 2 has started off much better with a proper mystery Not yet watched but on my list Punisher season 2 - Netflix Russian Doll - Netflix

    Moria soon on LS?

It's some sort of shitty livestream he does of the game and it's mostly nonsense. There's no official summary of the few important parts he mentioned, so a few idiots expect you to have to sit through the whole tedious thing just to listen out to something that might be relevant. From what I remember of what was mentioned on the other forums, Moria is coming in "March-ish", which could mean anything, really. No idea if there's been any more since then, because I refuse to watch that shit. Edit: I've put a thread out over there to see if anyone has anything. Not holding out much hope, though. From the figures on both YouTube and Twitch, pretty much nobody watches it.
  21. This happens when MadeofLions posts, he's treated like some savior it's almost cult like. And often, he will pop into a post that starts out with a valid criticism/negative bent in hopes that just his mere presence will quiet the haters. I lost any remaining respect for him when he tried to excuse/explain away why loot-boxes are in the game.

    Moria soon on LS?

Does anybody follow +Cord of the rings (is it a blog or a podcast??)? Its been mentioned on my kin's discord that there was a part of it concerning Moria on the LS. I dont remember exact quote but it alluded to Moria happening sooner than later and some suggesting before the end of the month. Like predicted, SoA landscape is getting dull and losing players fast. Part of me wants Moria ASAP, and another part of me that just started an RK wouldnt mind a few more weeks to level him and get a few rifts out of him
  23. And I see that all the time, too. The moment a blue name pops up, a bunch of sycophants all start getting over-excited and thanking them for gracing the forums with a meaningless post. We've all seen the sort of people behind those blue names (and it's as you'd expect for an MMO developer, they're not exactly alphas), there's literally no reason to treat them like deities or give virtual wanks if they appear in a thread. Then again, maybe I'm giving the sycophants too much credit, and they're more likely on a rung below beta so they do actually look up to blue names.
  24. Maybe it's because body odor and halitosis is not a factor on the internet /shrug. Maybe they just lack the ability to cut their losses when they stop having fun, and will warp the laws of reality in their minds as much as necessary in order to tell themselves they're still having fun. There are actually long-time shills on the OF who are beginning to show signs of seeing the light. They still temper their criticisms with blind praise to their oligarchs at every possible opportunity, but it's easy to tell they're losing hope. Those are the ones who will cry the loudest when the shutdown announcement finally comes.
  25. I'm now firmly in the belief that this undead game will never lose all its player base, because there's just too many oddballs out there with seemingly an endless supply of disposable income but nothing else going on in their life, so they keep on spending. Maybe it's some mental disorder along the lines of autism. It's the only explanation I can think of as to why they're so fucking weird. I mean, look at this shit. Making threads to share fucking song lyrics where they make it about Lord of the Rings? Or this trash. What sort of NPC-level sort of humour is that? And even worse, people respond positively about it. Reeks of that mental fucker you see at bus stops with their belly out humming fucking anime intros out of key. Normally, people steer clear of the nutter, but on the forums? They congregate like outcast moths to a socially-inept flame. These are the sorts of people who are still fuelling the game, and with people that out of touch with normality it's no longer surprising to me that SSG keeps the lights on.

Another Attempt to Bump the Login Numbers...

It's cause they need the festivals to compensate for bad quest design. From what I can recall, Budgeford was huge into making the quests actually good as MoL just isn't as good at the quests without Budgeford because you get into too much "it's this way cause I said so" writing.
  27. I agree that FFXIV hits a sweet spot with the festivals. They blend just enough story and lore into the event and it's a short and sweet affair. And that is the way it should be, festivals and the like are about getting away from the grind of the main game and doing frivolous shit. But LOTRO can't pass up the chance to increase that grind and hope that folks run to the store to alleviate it some way.
