    Cordovan Strikes with Banhammer

I see he dropped his signature and all the links to his drivel output. Deluded Self-promotion was his thing wasn't it? No I couldn't be arsed to actually go find it right now.

    Did Mirk actually launch?

I probably would've posted something, but I stopped playing again. I'm guessing the few here still knocking about on the Limited Servers are busy actually playing it, and in a few days when the content runs dry we'll get an update as to where things are at. From what I've heard from a few others who are more invested in those servers than I was, it's not going very well.

    Cordovan Strikes with Banhammer

Looks like the Creeper, whom I shall not name, wasn't happy reading his psycho bio here. No doubt he linked many a thread from here where Cordoban is deservedly shat upon hoping the creeper will again come into SSG's good graces. No worries you Faggoty Bitch! I hit the mark and you know it. Suck it up and swallow your earned karmic payback, like a good cocksucker.

    Same shit different week

From what little screwing around with performance monitor earlier today and the LotRO client, I suspect there's (at minimum) asset loading code that needs optimization and a handle leak in the game code.

What investors? The only investor Turbine ever had was WB. WB's investment was an eventual planned buyout per the contract, which the original founder of Turbine intended all along as his cashout. Everyone assumes there is some dude swimming in cash who remains hidden as the investor. The most that occurred was an investment company was created for the sole purpose for WB's eventual ownership. SSG themselves had someone front them a loan to get on their feet, once no longer under the Turbine/WB yoke directly. The loan to create an indie development company is not the same thing as who supplies the cash to keep LotRO going. There is a good chance the SSG loan is already paid off and likely the reason DBG didn't jump in immediately. Also the loan for SSG was likely incorporated into the package deal arbitrated between WB, DBG and SSG from the budget allotted to SSG in the first year. All parties concerned gave SSG a break to get on their feet. Infinite Crisis was a piece of shit built on the same piece of shit engine LotRO and DDO use today. It doesn't surprise me its was shut down and tbh I don't think Turbine was fully committed to making it good. A pet project approved by WB which no one really gave a fuck about but to keep their jobs until WB made the transition to Mobile games. Essentially Infinite Crisis was a filler to take up time on WB's ticket expense. Any profits Turbine ever made were promptly taken away and the annual budget prevailed. It wasn't like as if Turbine hit it big again raises would be flying out from WB or the annual budget would have been infinite. My point about the game engine and creating a new one, is there was always room and time to have it bargained for in any given years budget. That never happened.

The game engine used by LOTRO and DDO is the same that was used by AC. It is a proprietary engine that was built in house. The base code is over 20 years old, and was probably badly written to begin with. Maybe Turbine could have re-written the game engine in 2003 or 2007, or licensed the Unreal engine, when they were flying high with 3 MMOs, but there's no way SSG has the funding or staff to do either these days.

    Captain Build Advice

I'm going to take the mindset of throwing out the longgame with SSG as (historically speaking) anything I've set aside for "I'm going to need it later" has ended up sitting in the vault until I threw it on the AH and I haven't missed it since. That said, from refining the entire relic collection, I've pulled something like 200k shards, 10M IXP, and using what shards I had combined with what I got, I'm up 6 SoEs. Thankfully SSG put in several sliders and other tools to help expedite the entire proccess, even though it's really the client doing a batch of transactions one after the other instead of all of this happening server side (which would make more sense).

    Captain Build Advice

IXP is not an issue. The blue pills drop like crazy. I was finishing up Vales last night, and had a quest to kill 10 deer, and ended up with 5 runes of varying amounts. I don't even look at the IXP amount any more, I just dump them into shared storage so the storage mule can pick them up in case I need them later.

    Captain Build Advice

Refinement is actually a fairly good way to earn IXP, as when you refine you get shards and occasionally an IXP rune. Just be sure to set it to stack mode, and clear out your IXP runes periodically, or you'll end up with like 200 in your inventory..... Not that I'm speaking from experience or anything.... Edit: After looking deeper into the relic system, I may as well just run 8 of https://lotro-wiki.com/index.php/Relic%3AInsignia_of_Commanding_Presence which would definitely make Moors amusing XD

Well, engine and system wise, as SSG should have done what WoW did, which is take the engine that runs everything, and throw on the 1.12 data and have the engine run that so that you essentially have two games that share a very large percentage of code, thus reducing your overhead. Given what I've seen from SSG and Turbine, I'm not sure if they've done that yet, or at least have the codebases as close as they should be.

    Be Virtuous!

the great irony is that a level 120 char probably has so much stats behind them that they could solo all downlevel raids - especially if they're on a class with some self healing capability.

Druidsfire was streaming with that title last week. Talk about self-delusion.

The issue is more that the relics are useless after Westenmet, maybe T10. Hitting Mordor and none of the player melded relics are any use. In Vales crafting of relics is back but has no link to the guilded relic crafting. Barter and raid item gated crafted relic. More forgotten tech and hacks.

    Did Mirk actually launch?

Haha, thought I also read someplace that mob difficulty was adjusted levels 61-80 something. Ill be lucky if I get on before Sunday and my Warden which Ive ignored at kin request for moar healers is just 57. Now of course we have 12 level capped RKs and an handful of minnies making my RK a waste of time. Looks like Ill have Moria all to myself

    Did Mirk actually launch?

I think they are all busy in Rohan/Dunland on their Guardians. They're complaining that they don't have a source for new First Agers at 65, a load of barters set to level 70 and not dropping on Durchest which raid kins had in their farming plans. Mob difficulty levels apparently looking set right at the cost of Anvil difficulty outrageous, flipping that switch in a hotfix next week. Blizzard actually spent dosh on this stuff.

Unless SSG changes things, you can always get relics by running the Moria instances solo. Not only do the relics drop from the boss chests, but you can trade the rusted tools and Khudzul tablets that randomly drop from the trash for relics at the class-specific LI vendors. You can also trade some of the old regional currencies for relics. Most areas have repeatable quests so that you can pick up extra tokens, though the effort might not be worth it. In some cases, the regions offer a basic token and a golden token; though there are some special tokens. In general, the higher level tokens can be converted to the basic token, but not vice-versa. There are a few special cases: Unhatched Spider Eggs can drop in the Roots of Fangorn instance in The Great River. While an Egg cannot be directly traded for the Anduin Tokens, it can be bartered for a Seal, which can then be converted to Medallions. The Resource Instances in Eastern Rohan reward Tokens of Effort, but the instances are not available until you've rebuilt specific portions of Hytbold. The Tokens of Effort can be directly bartered for relics, or they can be converted into Silver Tokens of the Riddermark. I would suggest NOT converting them, because you can earn the required number of Effort tokens daily, but not enough STotR. For a long time, the only repeatable quests in Western Rohan were the Warbands, but now you can earn Westemnet Iron Coins for completing Tasks. It's the only region where tasks have a purpose other than reputation and xp. Warbands typically drop the regional currency, but most of the Roving Threats do not. You might also get extra regional token or two from the box rewarded for completing the daily Warband quest (Completing the quest for killing a Roving Threat rewards Gift-Giver's Brands, which cannot be bartered for relics. You can also be rewarded with a GGB as loot from the corpse of the RT). I wouldn't start buying relics until you've purchased everything else you want (cosmetics, housing items, pets, steeds), but they are a good way to burn the old tokens once you move on.

Zero mention of virtues on the stream, maybe none of them have the capacity to do maths. Anyone know if QuartermasterU did a bad rep change to SSG_RedPanda? His ignorant trolling has a familiar touch. Timelines fit his fall from grace.
  22. I thought I read somewhere that Mirk launched this week. My kin's discord is quiet and havent seen any posts here about it. Kind of like "if a tree falls in the forest and nobody is there to hear it does it make a sound?"

Maybe all the "investors" over the years have never had a return or they've just frittered it away, Infinite Crisis? Have to believe that between Turbine/WB and Daybreak lawyers they had a shitty deal to keep it going. Mac

All these years from Asheron's Call to today. Turbine and by extension SSG could have been creating a new game engine from the ground up, back to front. Always same bullshit about Turbine was a small company and how SSG is a small Dev company is just passing the $buck. From the company to the shills and whiteknights. All bullshit through and through. SSG should have had this as their 1st goal and main priority from the onset of creating the LLC. Not for LotRO or DDO, but for both all the while creating it for a new game. What new game idk but surely creating a new game engine would open up many doors within and without. I see other game engines being used for newer games and I know that shit isn't free open source material in every case. One person on the payroll could have done this and yes it would take years. How many? Umm let's see. Twelve years? Probably less. Bottom line is, small minds have small goals.

Vales brought the final trait point to 92. They announced a while back that this would be the last one. I know it will only do my head in but I figured I'd take a look at what's streaming ahead of the Cord broadcast to find a level 118 Druidsfire char with no end tier class deeds complete. She's reading tooltips mid "melee" battle looking for skills mentioned in the class deed panel. She's also looking for some other player to die and get the rezz deed advancing. With 3 accounts she can't take even that leap. Pontin: should give her some useful advise surely? Is she some kind of macabre freak show to you? I'd say it must be a Valar toon but has she done this stuff on any char since the trait trees came in? Edit: Further along and I quote "Why can't I fear it" Because you never read what your skills can and can't do.

heh. so we have stat bloat over here... to fix this, lets not dial the existing bloat back, rather lets propagate it everywhere to all corners of the game. 🙄 who cares if the areas lacking stat bloat require we release in a single update the same amount we released over the past 12 years... wonder how that impacts existing level scaling, or any future intentions to add? surely this won't run away even further on them... oh the store will certainly come into play EVEN MORE. we have all seen this multiple times over in the past, now they are just accelerating. with multiple examples in play, poor design is the intention. uh no. both games suffer like ass & both games are losing population. DDO is every bit the slug as Lotro, just with a dodge mechanic and an overly complex build system that requires a stomach to endure. each game may have a small bump from content, but the height they regain falls well short of past benchmarks. both games are in an overall losing trend. DDO seems less so because they have a MUCH smaller base (comprised almost entirely of old long term players who to a great degree suffer from sunken cost fallacy & rather than start out from scratch in something new and better, they will stay till the lights go out.) something both games, again have in common. competent gamers on the whole are actually leaving the MMO genre behind and playing other genres. because competent gamers want to practice core combat mechanics and GET GOOD... over spending months on end grinding out incremental stat gains gaining numerical advantage, repeatedly. if that is actually the modus operandi driving the decisions, it will fail spectacularly. anyone who wanted to try both games has, if the conversion was going to happen, it would have already transpired. more than likely is the realization that they have a core of sunken costs players, who they are under orders from Corp to milk harder. which as a strategy has a shelf life because ever increasingly the remaining players begin to feel... thin, sort of stretched, like butter scraped over too much bread.

Trait tree points have a cap. 90 points I think. Before this it was possible to fill out nearly two complete trait trees. I see a good chance of them raising the Trait Tree cap in the future. If the game gets to the stage players can cap all three trait lines then that would be dumb and rather redundant. We already had that, but it could be a long term plan all along to hinder player advancement for one reason. To have players buy the future points from the store.

For periods we had little oversight, class devs allowed to do their own thing playing around with a favourite class and ignoring another. Mother Vvyanne with little technical ability allowing everyone free reign to develop, more for their resumes than for the good of the game. Given the lack of knowledge, reason and logic would have you reach out for help but the environment has ever been deceit. Perhaps engine wise but getting all their inspiration for Lotro development from stuff they have in DDO hasn't so far done much for Lotro. If you hate one game and love the other which are you going to copy over? Mac
