  1. Hopefully they are going to update the forum as it is currently rubbish. The number of times I have been logged out while refreshing the forum only to be logged back in again after another refresh is silly. Also sometimes when I refresh a page I get taken to another thread all together.

Also I wonder if they are finally going to get the lotteries working again.

They might also fix the issue with posts disappearing de to a syncing issue _O-

  2. What we need on the US forum is more post like the ones from MadeofLions in response to a joke post that devs should post their to do list at the end of each week

    Here's mine for today:

    1) Do the thing

    2) Do the other thing

    You're right, this was therapeutic!

A quick update for you guys. I did the thing. Now I'm doing the other thing.

Just wanted to keep you in the loop!

  3. With all that is going on in other threads I thought I would post something to give people a laugh

This got the whole of Sydney laughing. Read it and you'll see why! Just imagine sitting in traffic on your way to work and hearing this. Many Sydney folks DID hear this on the FOX FM morning show in Sydney .

The DJs play a game where they award winners great prizes. The game is called 'Mate Match'. The DJs call someone at work and ask if they are married or seriously involved with someone. If the contestant answers'yes',he or she is then asked 3 random yet highly personal questions. The person is also asked to divulge the name of their partner with (phone number) for verification. If their partner answers those same three questions correctly, they both win the prize.

One particular game, however, several months ago made the Harbour City drop to its knees with laughter and is possibly the funniest thing you've heard yet.

Anyway, here's how it all went down:

DJ: 'Hey! This is Ed on FOX-FM. Have you ever heard of 'Mate Match'?'

    Contestant: (laughing) 'Yes, I have.'

DJ: 'Great! Then you know we're giving away a trip to the Gold Coast if you win. What is your name? First only please.'

    Contestant: 'Brian.'

DJ: 'Brian, are you married or what?'

Brian: (laughing nervously) 'Yes, I am married.'

DJ: 'Thank you. Now, what is your wife's name? First only please.'

    Brian: 'Sara.'

DJ: 'Is Sara at work, Brian?'

Brian: 'She is gonna kill me.'

DJ: 'Stay with me here, Brian! Is she at work?'

Brian: (laughing) 'Yes, she's at work.'

DJ: 'Okay, first question - when was the last time you had sex?'

Brian: 'About 8 o'clock this morning.'

    DJ: 'Atta boy, Brian.'

    Brian: (laughing sheepishly) 'Well...'

DJ: 'Question #2 - How long did it last?'

    Brian: 'About 10 minutes.'

DJ: 'Wow! You really want that trip, huh? No one would ever have said that if a trip wasn't at stake.'

Brian: 'Yeah, that trip sure would be nice.'

DJ: 'Okay. Final question. Where did you have sex at 8 o'clock this morning?

Brian: (laughing hard) 'I, ummm, I, well...'

DJ: 'This sounds good, Brian. Where was it at?'

Brian: 'Not that it was all that great, but her mum is staying with us for couple of weeks...'

    DJ: 'Uh huh...'

Brian: '...and the Mother-In-Law was in the shower at the time.'

    DJ: 'Atta boy, Brian.'

    Brian: 'On the kitchen table.'

DJ: 'Not that great?? That is more adventure than theprevious hundred times I've done it. Okay folks, I will put Brian on hold, get his wife's work number and call her up.

    [ 3 minutes of commercials follow. ]

DJ: 'Okay audience; let's call Sarah, shall we?'

    (Touch tones.....ringing....)

    Clerk: 'Kinkos.'

DJ: 'Hey, is Sarah around there somewhere?'

    Clerk: 'This is she.'

DJ: 'Sarah, this is Ed with FOX-FM. We are live on the air right now and I've been talking with Brian for a couple of hours now.'

Sarah: (laughing) 'A couple of hours?'

DJ: 'Well, a while now. He is on the line with us. Brian knows not to give any\answers away or you'll lose. Sooooooo... do you know the rules of 'Mate Match'?'

    Sarah: 'No.'

    DJ: 'Good!'

    Brian: (laughing)

Sarah: (laughing) 'Brian, what the hell are you up to?'

Brian: (laughing) 'Just answer his questions honestly, okay? Be completely honest.'

DJ: 'Yeah yeah yeah. Sure. Now, I will ask you 3 questions, Sarah. If your answers match Brian's answers, then the both of youwill be off to the Gold Coast for 5 days on us.

    Sarah: (laughing) 'Yes.'

DJ: 'All right. When did you last have sex, Sarah?'

Sarah: 'Oh God, Brian....uh, this morning before Brian went to work.'

    DJ: 'What time?'

    Sarah: 'Around 8 this morning.'

DJ: 'Very good. Next question. How long did it last?'

    Sarah: '12, 15 minutes maybe.'

DJ: 'Hmmmm. That's close enough. I am sure she is trying to protect his manhood. We've got one last question, Sarah. You are one question away from a trip to the Gold Coast. Are you ready?'

    Sarah: (laughing) 'Yes.'

DJ: 'Where did you have it?'

Sarah: 'OH MY GOD, BRIAN!! You didn't tell them that did you?'

    Brian: 'Just tell him, honey.'

DJ: 'What is bothering you so much, Sarah?'

    Sarah: 'Well...'

DJ: Come on Sarah.....where did you have it?

    Sarah: 'Up the arse.....'

They had to call an ambulance for the DJ he thought he was going to have a heart attack , he could not stop laughing.

Apparantly there was an unusually high call out of the Sydney Police just after this conversation, for minor traffic collisions

  4. well said.

up until this summer i had high hopes about lotro being able to last a long time and requiring Turbine to renew their lease on the IP as we moved into the 4th age after the ring is destroyed.

but now with everything i am having my doubts we will ever see Mordor.

According to an interview with the devs, RoI is the biggest selling expansion in LOTRO history

Cant remember which of the 2 chats it is in

  5. I bought STO when it came out, got a good deal on the gold edition on Amazon, but I found it a very repetitive game. It wasnt just the quests that were similar, there were only a few different landscapes, most of the installations you went to were identical and most of the space battle were the same. The gold edition gave me 60 days play time but I gave up well before that ran out.

I might give it another shot once it is F2P just to see if much has changed

  6. Ah, the old "we have no plans to at this time." I like that they still think that means anything to us.

I am surprised they dont use that more often than they actually do. Things change due to many factors, ie new owners or a rival company making large changes and you can see the advantages of it.

To often players from many different games take the work of a community member a something that is set in stone and will never change.

  7. There is defo a case here of Turbine being guilty of shennanigans, and people should be able to look at the facts and state there's something dodgy going on with decision making, whether it's deciding what's included in the expansion, or whether it's to do with marketing decisions, but clearly, when the facts are there for all to see, the same people(not including any of the ol' EU crew)leap to the defense of Turbine and refuse point blank to look at the facts, even though they're there for all to see.

I asked valid questions that got ignored, and for what reason?

Because, the fanboys are out in force to go over old ground over and over again en masse, so the questions get ignored. Sapience is only answering the questions he feels like answering, as long as it doesn't make Turbine look like they've done anything wrong, which clearly, in this case, they have.

Don't get me wrong, I think the game's great, but between the false advertising and Sapience reenactment of an overzealous Gestapo officer, there is more and more a sense of regret that this is the only Middle-earth based MMO.

I think that some of the defence is just a case of a siege mentality. The more people want to attack the more people will defend, with people on both sides just as guilty of ignoring facts.

  8. Mark my words, the fanboys/fangirls are receiving their compensation for defending Turbine. Missy from the official discussion thread, for example, has been enjoying her tenure as a "featured player" and forum celebrity for some time. She gets kick-backs, same as the others.

Got any proof of this or it is just wild speculation.

I could easily say that those who are attacking Turbines handling of the game are getting kick-backs from rival MMO companies to try at destroy the game. However I dont believe that is the case, neither do I believe Turbine are rewarding some forum users.

However if they do want to pay people to defend the game where do I sign up B-)

  9. http://forums.lotro....bine-Point-Cost

Selling an expansion pack at high end without the raid or the instances being included is so wrong it's stupid wrong. Most others gave you those things when you plop down the TP equivalent of 50 US bucks. Telling people that they could buy an expansion, then not really doing it is fraudulent. What they are buying at launch is a multi quest pack containing zone content lacking raids or instances, then a raid. Expansions normally come with high end content designed for those zones. It's a crock. Added up, to a total of 5995 not counting the stone, it works out to over 3.75 point cards for a money cost of over $80 dollars, since it's sold ONLY in 1600 total. Unless you managed to grab the sale, or have a lot accumulated, it's costing you, even if you pay a sub fee already, which by rights should pay for the update at least.

You can buy everything from the expansion via the store. They dont have it in one package which is apparently to do with the instances not coming out till later and the shop not being able to handle this. As for the cost, I agree it is a bit high via the store but if you sub for 1 year you get 6000 points which covers the cost of the expansion assuming you dont spend them

I went to the site suggested for you, the EU archive, and it looks like someone went through it with a vacuum, because most has been 'cleaned and closed'.

Not sure what has been cleaned or closed. All that is there is how the CM forum was when it was closed after the merger. As far as I know nothing has been removed from the forum. You cant click on links to go to other threads in the CM forums as the link will try to take you to the live forum which is not there.
