    Has anybody seen this?

this assumes the relationship between SSG & Daybreak isn't a toxic cesspool, because if that relationship is strained, you can bet that would be reason enough. we know (NOT suspect) that Doctor Octothorpe was terminated at the beginning of December (12th.) 2018. & whenever something like that happens, one is left wondering was that it? and i do need to remind everyone of the fire sale they had from December 7th through the 16th called the "Legacy Bundle" for $199.99 USD: https://www.lotro.com/en/LegacyBundle so Daybreak terminated at least one SSG employee, right during a fundraising period... not just fundraising at Lotro, but also at DDO. in fact Daybreak did this funding package drive at every title in the entire studios portfolio. Everquest, DCU Online, H1Z1, Planetside, etc. etc. etc. yet Daybreak fired Doctor Octothorpe before the funding drive was even over @Lotro. & Doctor Octothorpe was the only one we got wind of due to his twitter feed. well there are 2 things i do NOT assume: 1.) Doctor Octothorpe was the only one let go. & 2.) SSG & Daybreaks relationship is all roses & joy... an entire shit-show is entirely within the realm of possibility. what fucking company fires a company tent pole mid funding drive? Daybreak games has managed just that. yet i am sure there are folk who assume i am jumping up and down with joy that Severlin may have also been terminated. those people are frankly idiots who are DEAD WRONG. whomever is tasked with writing both DDO's & Lotros annual letter, may find the most difficult part, is establishing a positive tone, when it is entirely likely that Daybreak striped all revenues above and beyond the most basic operations at all these studio games under their umbrella to fund the new Planetside Battle Royale game slated to launch this March. (or worse, clear their books of any trace of Columbus Novas money.) it is a repeat of Infinite Crisis all over again. and for those who can intellectually grasp what that means, my reasons for being pissed & acting like a bit of an attack dog, become crystal clear. anyway Kick, there are actual reasons for all of this to be dovetailing downward & they aren't actually SSG's current tiny roster of employees. i actually do STRONGLY suspect Daybreak is behind much of the current quagmire.

    Where is Fernando Paiz?

i wonder where the Paizs could have possibly come up with this SUPER original idea, that hasn't been done to death by the industry since the 80's... and a lot better i might ad... but emojis and coin unlocks... E SPORTS for EVERYONE! *sigh* fucking grifters.

    Has anybody seen this?

there are several good threads on this forum that stand above and beyond the rest, but IMO, THIS: https://lotrocommunity.com/forum/topic/3465-lotro-pvpersare-they-really-that-bad/ is the best & it all starts with Alywens first post: https://lotrocommunity.com/forum/topic/3465-lotro-pvpersare-they-really-that-bad/?do=findComment&comment=112183 Alywens contributions and peek behind the scenes was OVERWHELMINGLY received with positivity and praise & it was confirmation for many of things we suspected, or perceived in part. of all the threads in existence on these forums, the one i linked above MUST be marked to NEVER expire. it is a treasure.

    Where is Fernando Paiz?

and if you pop around to IO sites, or look at their youtube channel, the actual engagement is almost non existent. one ridiculously unoriginal game to Storm Flags credits. i pity anyone who is actually suckered in by these 2. sadly, stupid of that depth actually exists. more a case of lost interest. my initial curiosity was if they had actually moved away from Turbine, or will still clawing away out of public view. all the licensing & registration for the name Storm Flag Games started up at the very end of 2017. the E Sports thing is a joke. there is literally nothing about their one game that is E Sports. they basically make games for idiots, more insulting is they thing that means everyone. but that is the level of schmuck we are dealing with. as for Warner, they only care about retaining the IP. whatever deal is on the books, Warner would have only protected retention of the rights & future use of IP. beyond that they don't give a single fuck about the games. never have. & any licensing conundrum has all but dissipated since the settlement with the Tolkien Estate out of Court. & now that Christopher Tolkien is no longer the executor... even the exclusive rights for MMO's is no longer an exception. that is why there is another one from Amazon on the horizon. http://www.athlongames.com/ ^that is basically just a shell company. those 4 splash pages have been there forever, still no hires. a distraction. but the MMO to coincide with the Amazon series is in the works & if they do it right be developed in tandem with the filming of the story.... "Young Aragorn." & as far as a physical office for Storm Flag Games... not actually required. it is entirely plausible both Paizs work from home. the IO game is hosted by various io game sites, no need for a dedicated server structure, or data-center. but beyond that, my intent for posting this update was to show these 2 carny clowns in some daylight and give the sideshow a bit of exposure. not to boost, merely to point and laugh... just deserts. ;)

    Serverpopulation

Anor & Ithil decline is pretty harsh since November 8 2018. by next weeks updated numbers they both may be the least populated servers. i think Anor is still currently ahead of Sirannon, but not by much.

sometimes i go down the oddest rabbit holes... & end up sharing what i drag back up, resurfacing that which was laying low. i have found the Paizs new company... turns out its been around since the end of 2017. https://stormflaggames.com/about/ this is the current offering & apparently a first look at, "E Sports for Everyone" : & youtube channel: Storm Flag Games now you all know as well.

Another Attempt to Bump the Login Numbers...

interesting that they left that feature open/active. oversite, or intentional? wonder if anyone will bother to transfer now that the name rush is over? off peak player numbers are very thin. prime numbers aren't all that great either. the remaining must be a... peculiar crowd.

The Missing 2019 Producer Letter & Severlin?

just needs to pass by another 15 editors & then Severlin will surely hand deliver it to a Cordovan live stream in March... or April, nullifying all doubt he was ever NOT CURRENTLY EMPLOYED @SSG...

Another Attempt to Bump the Login Numbers...

don't think it much matters, there is no visible uptick in numbers on day one. well there is a core of people who like skirmishes; most hate them. i don't think this event will draw much in the way of interest. so a dozen people are upset on the O. F. it isn't like they'll stop over this, or anything else thrown at them. just more keeping up appearances, while low-balling the effort. it makes some think everything is plodding along just fine. no one wonders just how well the last funding drive did and just how much revenue was generated selling all those bundles late last fall... or if that funding is being directed back into the product. personally, with no actual accountability, i think this is just deserts.

The Missing 2019 Producer Letter & Severlin?

DDO is also missing its 2019 Letter. his last post on either the DDO or Lotro forums was back on September 10 2018: https://www.lotro.com/forums/showthread.php?666721-End-Game-Loot-Lootboxes-Update-23-and-Beyond&p=7866238#post7866238 he did wear the top hat at both from SSG side of things. the assumption is he still does, but there is no actual cause for that assumption. i suppose one could come straight out and ask Cordovan, "Does Severlin still work at SSG?" curious to hear a direct answer, or obfuscation. but it is entirely possible he is already gone & having to manage that is not preferred, quite possibly hoping enough time passes and people forget. that or distraction. either way, Severlins presence at both DDO & Lotro is oddly similar to someone no longer with the company. if communication isn't his bag, maybe he should pass the torch... if it hasn't already been taken from him.

RE: the producers letter (or whatever the new title is now) would come from Severlin... assuming he is still with SSG... ??? might be why we haven't seen it yet, or worse Daybreak has given no new green lights & we are in the last stretches... one wonders if it all hangs on the success of Daybreaks new Planetside BattleRoyale? or will shit hit the Daybreak fan sooner than that? ;)

Another Attempt to Bump the Login Numbers...

Last place = Ithil 2nd to last = Sirannon Gladden & Anor are pretty much neck in neck. (Gladden slightly ahead) once Moria launches, the whole leveling together feeling diminishes & that increases with each content addition. Moria won't have nearly as many initial rubberneckers, (characters are made, very little new characters at that point) so no queue. & the levelers will hit 60 pretty fast in the new Moria. each successive content addition will see a smaller burst & a faster attrition rate. when will folk demand the consolidation? free transfers between the 2 are done as far as i know. Moria is due on Anor & Ithil roughly around March 8. what is really noteworthy though, is how the main 10 servers have dropped off since winterfest end & are mostly still beating the legacy servers. even combined they can't match either Brandywine alone, or Evernight which have the best populations.

Another Attempt to Bump the Login Numbers...

i do not know how much this will impact log-ins but since the winter festival ended logins are definitely down across all servers: and exactly how many players have keep their skirmish soldiers up to date? most stopped leveling them back when we were capped at level 75. some even before that. the cap is 120 now, just imagine the expenditures of players who do participate having to spend marks to bring their soldiers up to level... the higher you go, the more expensive it gets. & the matter of unlocking additional upgrades as well.... with all the new calculations & enemy mobs hitting harder, etc. an unleveled soldier is going to die fast... as will the NPC's in the actual skirmishes. & here is the thing, if skirmishes themselves don't actually have decent rewards, not just the new barter items (let alone a mystery item after completing all 12 skirmishes...) this little concept has several icy cold glasses of water, sufficient to turn almost the entirety of those potential early lookers completely off, right after day one. but you can bet there will be a store option for the dedicated few that will eat this up, like they do everything else. as for the festival carebears who bring the numbers up during fests... watch the bitchmoaning, when they see the new combat calculations wrecking NPC's, their unleveled soldiers & very likely their characters as well. i actually don't think this event will succeed to bring numbers up as much as it will, in milking existing players who spend via the store.
  19. Read the relevant info here: Recent Dust Up very fishy are the details. the about face from Daybreak on previous statements regarding Columbus Nova... the potential for legal jeopardy... this is very likely going to get messy. hard to not see a negative impact down the chain of companies tied too. only real question is how much time before the shit hits the fan? the internet never forgets: https://forums.daybreakgames.com/soe/index.php?threads/sony-online-entertainment-becomes-daybreak-game-company.11500068269/
  20. i will actually give this topic a serious answer. based off the last 3 years represented in this image: if no external factors change... * Daybreak Games does not Implode ✔️ * Servers remain at 10 (+2) and are not further consolidated ✔️ * SSG avoids really big changes like they unveiled with HD trait trees, or other things to upset the apple cart ✔️ you are looking at another 8 years minimum (more likely 10). SSG could extend that out by simply consolidating a server or 2, over time. lets just say hypothetically they whittled the active server list down to one or two servers on each side of the pond (4 max.) that alone could add another decade, or more. by doing next to nothing, other than using the robust server transfer feature they now have, the game could go on for another 20 years. my only recommendation... it is more clever than a first glance could imagine... is Crickhollow is the first to go!

    What are you Listening to?

    now we fight!
  22. not sure why you'd specifically ask someone who records the log-ins from the client... though i will take a stab. given the rather slow & relatively small decline the past 3 years: population isn't down by much really. depending on how much revenue this thing pulls in, it will likely continue. any risk is likely to come completely out of left field... IE: Daybreak collapsing in on itself. the above graphic also doesn't include Anor & Ithil, which ad a small bump as well. the 10 main servers, whilst not completely bounced back, have regained most of what they lost to Anor & Ithil & it has only been 2 months. in another 2 months Moria will launch on the legacy servers & 4 months after that another addition of content. with each addition, that specific feeling folk are getting is going to diminish. real question is will this prolonged split of population have an impact, or will folk tire of the shiny & return to the familiar? regardless, they have gone on for 3 years on close to a flat progression in population, no significant gains & the attrition is relatively minor. no huge losses of players like with Helms Deep, or even FTP. so baring external forces, it will likely plug on. that said, Daybreaks studio wide revenue drive with the last cycle of big package deals @every title it currently publishes... what happens if they put that money into this new Planetside BattleRoyale & it turns out to be another "Infinite Crisis" ??? anyway, if that is something you want to further discuss, perhaps start new thread... this feels a bit thread-jackish. ...sorry Agra.
  23. i had a tingle of curiosity this afternoon about how the 2 new mobile games from Turbine shaping up, so i had a look-see... it is still rather hard to tell. here is a look at the android app beta footage for the first, Batman Arkham Underworld, from August of last year: and the beta forums for the above... https://forums.arkhamunderworld.com/index.php i have no clue how this fairs at the moment, as mobile isn't remotely my platform of choice. a slow paced, "Hotline Miami-esque" game on a mobile device, set to Batman... i wonder how it will do? i'm not up on tracking things for mobile, but from my novice cursory search, it seems like this game has been downloaded to test just slightly North of 10,000 times. no clue if that is good, as i've never looked at the stats for other market successes on mobile platforms. & for the second game, the "Game of Thrones" themed mobile... this one is still un-named & Turbine is hiring production type folk: https://www.warnerbroscareers.com/search-jobs/?150967BR https://www.warnerbroscareers.com/search-jobs/?150689BR https://www.glassdoor.ca/Job/Turbine-Jobs-E34765.htm so i really couldn't say how these 2 titles are shaping up. anyone else have some insight?
  24. LasraelLarson

How are the 2 new mobile games from Turbine shaping up?

rather than make a brand new topic, i just thought i'd update this old thread. so while no one was looking, myself include... just before Game of Thrones Conquest Launched on October 4 2017... Turbine shuttered Batman Arkham Underworld. & in November of 2018, Warner Bros changed the Turbine moniker to Warner Bros. Games: Boston. so Turbine is gonzo & the re-dubbed studio is host to the one mobile game. that one game is doing OK though is top 20 on GOOGLE PLAY grossing games. but it is not without controversy: https://www.gameofthronesconquestlawsuit.com/ seems there may be a lot of unhappy folk out there... plenty of bad youtube plays as well, but tis mobile so what one would expect. ;) with the last season about to air (6 episodes and it is over) this title has a bit more shelf life anyway. thought it was interesting that Warner ditched the Turbine name & that that first mobile is already shit-canned. & now you all know as well. ;)
  25. Mordors blip was less active than the server consolidation cycle (especially during the winter seasonal bump.) even the Free to Play launch saw roughly 5 days of activity spike and then an immediate and sharp decline till roughly the start of that years Yulefest where it leveled off for 3 weeks and than continued to decline right up until the anniversary in April followed by the spring fest. Then it dropped much slower right up until the release of Rise of Isenguard. and each major release had something similar. outside of releases, the mitigation factors tend to be festivals & the annual Christmas / New Years holiday bumps. so if you have ever wondered why they have those all the time... they do somewhat dampen the sharpness of declines post release. here is yet another graphic that absolutely highlights the November 8th 2018 Launch of Anor (and days later Ithil.) while Anor & Ithil aren't shown... it clearly & dramatically shows how the existing 10 servers were impacted. it also serves to amplify my point, that these legacy servers comprised (OVERWHELMINGLY) existing LotRO players & the new factor is illusory. the overall population did not increase beyond drawing (momentarily) back some additional former players to rubberneck for a few days. Anor & Ithils player-base came out of the existing 10 servers. the actual net gain is momentary and but a thimbleful over an above what already existed. & that momentary bump is already long gone. the bulk of the success, was nothing more than a jammed log-in system creating an artificial peak of activity. the reality is these new Legacy servers did not increase Lotro's actual player population. but the fart sniffers never see the evidence until it is too late. all that said, the population, whilst no longer growing, is also no longer rapidly declining & has been relatively stable the past 3 years. the up & down cycles are much less dramatic. so upsetting the apple-cart by adding servers confuses me... unless of course it was successful in generating revenue. even so, it isn't a good long term strategy. maybe SSG could redeem themselves and close Crickhollow! you think i say in jest? NAY! better idea than most can conceive!
