Spidey 123
@ Piken Square members. There's a post on the WvWvW forums about RPers on PS role playing while keeps are being taken, something about looking for their lost cat, lol. I'm not sure if it's true or not, but after years of PvPers griefing RPers, RPers flipping the script on PvPers is quite hillarious. I posted that maybe they are role playing pacifists

Spidey 123
With only 1 WvWvW section and no server forums, threads get buried quite rapidly. Oh, and Raed, someones already suggested in another thread that people should be booted from WvW if they aren't actively "engaging the enemy" or not doing something helpful in 5 minutes time. PvPers, gotta love em.
Raedwulf 39
That, Spidey, does not surprise me in the least! But I thought I'd stir things up a bit. Me? Argumentative? Surely not!
cossieuk 209
Just seen an interesting feature on the GW2 forum. I was reading the following thread and I noticed just under the time of the post in the top right the following User was infracted for this post https://forum-en.guildwars2.com/forum/game/gw2/Why-GW-2-will-not-fail/first#post314608 Not sure why it was infracted but it is something I havent seen before, the shaing of posts that are infracted. Just imagine Turbine doing this. At least we know if the moderators a favoring some posters or not

Raedwulf 39
I wouldn't be so sure that's right, Dar. I used "whinging" in my original reply to the thread cited on the last page. There's a considerable difference in tone & context (mine is a discursive reply in the midst of an on-going discussion, rather than rather pointlessly gobbing off as an OP). Not saying you're wrong, mind; not certain you're right, either...
thordsvin 16
I'm guessing the user received an infraction because the post appear to be complete trolling. It's not really a post that encourages any sort reasonable discussion.
cossieuk 209
Not sure if deserved or not but letting people know which posts have been infracted is a good idea in my book. It is very open, as is much ArentNet are doing, and very refreshing to see
Raedwulf 39
I can agree with that. Mind you, their moderation isn't exactly perfect. I picked up 3 ridiculous infractions in Beta, one of which was for complaining to them by PM about their moderation, principally not being told what I'd been infracted for! I'm still very, very wary about what I say on the now-live forum. I'm not saying they are unfair or biased, as one site we could all agree on, but they did seem to be very anodyne & saccharine. It seems a little less so at the moment...
Knowfere 4
So far I'm having a blast in GW2. Writing blogs about my characters travel through the lands, and its a refreshing overall picture of the variety of quest objectives and events. I'm pretty much staying away from the forums, I haven't posted at all and have only visited once when I got booted to see what was up. I like the seeming promptness of bug fixing. Sure there are new broken things almost daily, mainly skill points or what have you, but they seem to be getting fixes out there at least once a week, a far cry from what I seen from Turbine. I still don't seem to be in love with the story near as much as lotro, but the actual playing is making up for that for now.
kitkat 1
I played in their beta weekends and enjoyed every second. The game was great at launch but went downhill fast. I'm feeling a bit disappointed to be honest. I've never seen so many bugs introduced so quickly. It seems that whenever they fix one thing, they break ten others. Bots are rampant, as expected and a lot of people are getting pretty fed up. To be honest though, my mood is pretty poor at the moment so that doesn't really help. Still smarting after seeing that NCSoft are pulling the plug on City of Heroes. That is one game that I will miss.
Knowfere 4
I'm always so much into my own world when I'm playing a game that I hardly notice bots. I am not so certain I would know it even if I did see one. I went to revive someone the other night and had another player say "Don't rez bots" and I'm like "huh?" how do you know it's a bot??? oh well, they don't detract from my play so, /shrug. Lothirieth 145
I've seen one.. they tend to stick to one area and they port around it instead of moving. You'll see them disappear then reappear a few meters forward.
Tanith 21
From what I've observed (and I only report those I'm sure of), they tend to be guildless, with nonsensical names like "gjghjgg", and often naked. Really. I followed one about a week ago one evening...it was a female ranger who fired her bow at every creature in her path as well as inanimate objects like cliffs and other bits of the landscape. It's not that different from LOTRO, really. You could always recognize bots there by the fact that they only used dropped or quest reward armor and attacked everything in sight. Knowfere 4
Only one time in the 5+ years I played lotro do I know in fact I saw a bot. It was 4 identical characters on /follow with the oddly spelled names similar to each other. Since I've watched my 7 year old grandson play lotro and GW2 a little, I will not assume a bot because of name spelling, quest reward gear, or performing what may seem like stupid actions according to what I perceive as "normal". I had to get on lotro one night after watching him play and he was grouped with 2 other people. Once I explained to the 2 others that he was (at the time) 6 years old, they admitted they were about to drop him because of his seeming ineptitude. Once I explained, (it turned out to be a married couple), they assured me that they would take care of him. The name he created was something he came up with in his 6 year old mind, and was not an easy to pronounce name so....
kitkat 1
I watched three obvious bots in a tight little group today. They were all rangers with bears, they were all using exactly the same attacks and were constantly patrolling a straight line from one point to another. Their line crossed the route taken by an escort quest. Being ranged and three levels above the mobs in the area, they almost completely destroyed the incoming group of mobs before any of the people following the npc could do enough damage to get any reward. They certainly do have an effect on normal day to day gaming as well as the economy of the game. I reported them and moved on, nothing else I could do. Pointless trying to get anything done in the area patrolled by them.
Spidey 123
I've seen bots a few times in GW2, I religiously report them, just as I do with gold sellers. They are a cancer to any game as are the hackers, both the ones that hack acct's to bot and sell gold, and the ones that hack the game using 3rd party programs i.e. speed hacks, teleport hacks, fly hacks etc. In PvE these might not seem to be a big deal, but in PvP it can be a huge problem. Some people want to win with any means necessary. I've been told that games have hack detection software imbedded, but that it has to be turned on by ANet, anyone know if that's true? cossieuk 209
One of the best things I have heard to do to bots is to train mobs to them and let them die
kitkat 1
Saw a post in the GW2 forums about these bots. Seems that most of them will pick almost anything up. Until they program around it, you can drop fireworks in front of them and they'll grab them. The fireworks change their power bar and they end up chucking harmless fireworks at mobs instead of attacking them... I might go and buy a few and see it it works next time I come across a bot. The problem with GW2 is that every character has a self rez and they use bots in groups to rez each other. If that fails, on defeat they can just teleport to the closest waypoint and run back to their path. Training mobs onto them probably won't achieve a great deal. Tanith 21
It doesn't, unfortunately. I tried this a couple of nights ago in Bloodtide Coast, found a lone warrior teleporting around attacking everything from boars to deer to rabbits, in the same circuit. I found a trio of risen nearby and led them to him...at his level (6 below theirs) they should have nailed him instantly. He one-shotted them with simply his broadsword.
