Sapience has made 29 hobbits, one on each server:

https://www.lotro.com/forums/showthread.php?537768-29-Worlds-29-Hobbits-Where-to-find-Sapience

Maybe it would be prudent to first deal with the distribution of in-game items that have to be sent to those who donated to his Extra Life campaign. 1800 Donations!

The date for this distribution was at first December 13. It kept being moved up, until, yes, you guessed, today! So far it seems that no one got anything.

Bad form!

The reasons for this post will be apparent to anyone who participated in the Live Stream last Friday. The rest will need to wait a little bit longer, but I think you'll find there's something fun coming up. But think, "Taking the Hobbits to Isengard."

As of today I have rolled up 29 new characters. All level 1. All standard player characters, no admin abilities. One on every server. They are all identical. They are all Hobbits. They are all Hunters. They are all the same basic look.

Here are their names on each server. You'll notice I tried to keep them the same but four of them had to be changed slightly as the names were taken on those servers.

Character Name: Hadacar

[*]Elindilmir

Btw, it's spelled Elendilmir.

Way to go Sapience, our community manager

I got my first infraction over a year ago politely complaining about his extra life campaign.

Not that I have anything against people doing things for charity,. I politely said I thought it wrong that people who were completeionists, were effectively being bribed to donate to a charity or miss out on a Lotro title .

I also added a small comment saying words to the effect of,

"and when I see one of your politicians last week publicly slagging of the UK NHS, then when I from the EU am asked to donate to a US charity to help children get operations in one of the worlds richest countries  in order to get an in game title, well I hope you understand why I won't be donating"

That got me my first infraction for discussing politics (nothing to do with Sapience being upset by what I posted about the title)

I politely complained to Sapience via PM, I got a very rude and curt short response, I wish I'd kept it.

A couple of months later there was a thread where they were openly  discussing politics, if memory serves me correctly sapience also took part in this particular thread, and I made a comment very similar to the following complete with smiley face

"I presume you are all going to get infractions for discussing politics like I did :) "

That got me my second infraction for discussing moderator decisions.

He was very touchy about that subject. HOW DARE you question what charity Turbine supports, or bring up other charity causes, or mention that Lotro players are from all over the world. 'Merica Yeah!

Once again he was making the USA the center of the world and giving out infractions for anyone with a different view.

Well, someone has been doing something to that effect. Logins have gone up on the US side the last few weeks.

Probably a mix of the hobbit movie and the general buzz/noise about LOTRO. A bag release and lots of bashing is buzz that boosts the login numbers.

He is doing the same with the Extra Life campaign as happened in 2012, family illness etc, people not getting what they were promised. He ended up skulking away and sending messages on twitter for others to post on the lotro forums. As I posted in 2012, in the extra life thread, it was more about his ego than sick kids. Eventually Victorie in accounts had to grab the reigns and rescue the bastard.

I donated last year but his total  ignorance shown then ensured that I would not donate through him again.

Turbine must be really proud to have a piece of shit like that representing them for a charity event.

balme santa, it was christmas remember,no school/work for lots of people and a 50% HD sale and the hobbit movie, see what happens now that everyone is back at work, the sale has ended and the people who bought it get bored and the pull of the movie dies away.

Mark my words by the end of JAN logins will be the lowest they have ever been.

It sounds horribly boring and I'm left wondering what the point is. No way I could ever have 29 characters on any game let alone them all being hunter hobbits.

I can kinda understand it, at least class-wise. In "Rift" I have tried playing all four classes, but only really enjoy playing Clerics, so I have several of them on different servers. That said, I play each of them a little differently, some with melee builds, others ranged, etc. They are also different races and factions, to keep things different.

29 Hobbit Hunters, though? That's a bit much.

29 Hunters eh...

There will be a lot of GLFF traffic from Sapience asking what the situation is with travelling rations... Fred will know about that travelling rations issue so I'd suggest Sapience ask Freddie.

(from a post in BETA = the one that got Freddie perma-banned)

Yup Taff...

A bunch of people jumped on Sapience for showing his lack of game knowledge and rather than "suck it up" for making the gaff Sapience responded in a somewhat more vindictive manner... INFRACTIONS!!!

My personal evaluation is that it seems Sapience certainly can dish it out but he can't take even a hint of critcism.

Indeed sir... Fully agree with ya.

Too few people are prepared to say they have made a mistake these days :(

Heck! I have much more respect for someone that is prepared to acknowledge a mistake they may have made, than one who just tries to paper it over...

My 2 cents worth, I think this 29 hunter thing is a load of bs...

People have been doing chicken runs to Isengard for bloody ages... This is just a PR stunt and a great waste of time.

Rather send out those Extra Life emails to people that donated to the cause Sapience. :/

A lot of people are logging in all their alts and running them thru one Yule quest everyday in hopes of getting a symbol from the sack of presents.  Logins will definitely drop when the Yule-fest ends.

Now, now. Do not be unfair.

If Sapience was any good at the game he wouldn't be Kate Paiz' target audience.

+1 so very true. lmao!

So, I've read the thread on the censored boards, but I still do not understand the purpose of him doing this stunt. Actually I've never understood why anyone would want to watch Rich Sap do anything (besides collect his stuff in a cardboard box and be escorted out of Turbine...I'd pay to see that).

Ok, so there is a new thread, this time in the Developer Diaries and Official Discussion section:

https://www.lotro.com/forums/showthread.php?537901-Take-the-Hobbits-to-Isengard!

It's again going to be an event per server (like Bounders Token event), then it's the servers vying for the best time/distance, with a scoreboard.

This hobbit hunter will follow someone who knows where s/he is going..... with other words, it's almost possible for S to sit back?

Sapience indicates :

"During the stream you can ask questions or just hang out. Anything I can answer I will. You can even ask for specific devs to drop in and chat during other challenges. Be aware, they’ll be chatting in the stream, but may not be playing. So I encourage everyone to have at least a decent set of ear buds nearby. Also, dev time is valuable so we may not be able to get the dev you want when you want, but I’ll do my best."

That^, to me, is a lame lure for more and more players who want to hear something 'new'.

and a warning:

"GM’s will be notified prior to each event. So anyone with plans to grief, harass, or otherwise make trouble during the event should be aware the GMs are on call and watching the stream. So even if I miss it, they probably won’t. The idea here is to have FUN!"

I want to stay as far away as I can from the above - YUK!

6th post in: a pic of a group who has run 4 or 5 chickens there.... so it's not really unique to bring a level 10 hobbit to the gate of Isengard.

And of course: no post in the $50,000 raised for the Extra Life Campaign.

Is this supposed the new 'added' end game? *sarcasm*

And Dev time is valuable? What for?

There is a new thread in the hunter forums: https://www.lotro.com/forums/showthread.php?&postid=7065085#post7065085

where Jinjaah, in just over an hour, writes 2 posts that include the following :

"I will do my best to stop in from time to time and answer any questions you have so let's get this started. .....[snip]

Finally I just want to re-iterate that I am indeed listening and reading your forum posts. I lurk more often than not due to the other things I am currently working on but I am listening. I will however, do a better job of communicating with you all some ideas as they come down the pipeline."

"I do in fact live! I will pop into the champion forums soon and chat with you all about some update 13 things. I have not forgotten you all and I do like a lot of the suggestions forming in that thread."

This does not sound reassuring me at all. Wasn't their promise already many times over that they would communicate better with the players?

Never seems to happen.

And that's because the dev's time is so valuable?

Makes me wonder how many of them are left.

The longer I mull over the things that Turbine has pulled on us since f2p started, the more I feel that they have manipulated both the game and the playerbase, that they lied, that they make empty promises, and that they are the most sneaky company I have ever dealt with.

Take e.g. the triple bonus tp sale that they ran over Christmas. One does not know what to think: they may close the game soon, and then those tp are useless to me.

Or, they have something coming down the pipeline that is going to be expensive, and not having bought tp during this sale was a stupid thing to do.

This is what my biggest pet peeve is: as a gamer and as a customer, you never know what is the best thing to do. Even continuing playing without spending money is not appealing, because one is always again confronted with these shady tactics

*end of rant*
