Haha, that poor soul is spamming Account support subforum which no one ever reads, too bad. If we didn't have the posting restrictions, this would be much worse.

E: Also "Mac Technical Support" and "Windows PC Technical Support" - https://www.lotro.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?710-Mac-Technical-Support - https://www.lotro.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?16-Windows-PC-Technical-Support

E2: Just realised I should probably have posted in the old thread, apologies.

Actually Turbine has been ignoring porn spam for a long time, and especially over the past month. In the New Player forums, people are complaining that Turbine does not clean up the spam, even when it is X-Rated. The good side of this is new players can see how much Turbine neglects the game and the forums.

Frelorn:

As you may or may not have noticed, we have had a recent uptick in spam attacks here on the forums. In response we have added some new tools to the forums to help prevent this, and it appears that users with certain signatures are getting moderated because of this new filtering software. I am working to try to refine this but for now if you have and overly complicated or link heavy signature you may get moderated. I am working to get this fixed as soon as possible.

I'm used to seeing the spammers take over on the weekends, but this is the middle of the week ffs.  Don't they know how bad it looks to have the New Player section of the forums filled with spam threads, to the point that there's practically nothing else on the whole first page of it?

Guess he gave up on trying to figure out a solution:

"Forum Signatures Disabled

Due to security reasons and recent abuse by a large number of members here on the forums, we have disabled the use of forum signatures for the time being. We do not have an ETA for when they will be activated again."

I think it's time that Turbine, due to systematic abuse with the players' good will and common sense, disable lotro for the time being. Without ETA on when it will be activated again.

Turbine can't deal with porn spammers via automated tools, because they keep inadvertently banning legitimate posters. So rather than fix their tools, or deal with the problem manually (put an Intern on it!), they disable signatures, then blame the players for it?

Same old Turbine. Only willing to do the absolute minimum, and never willing to take responsibility for their shortcomings.

Forum spam is controlled via community maintained databases such as

http://botscout.com/

If they don't know about them or have no people left to integrate the results of those databases they are gonna have a bad time.

But it needs ~15mn for a beginner dev to make a script which removes automatically the spams.

We should remember that we're talking about an IT company that has proven to be incapable of supplying a non-broken forum theme, claiming it to be a very difficult thing to do. It's probably best for them not to touch the actual forum code, lest it be unavailable for the rest of the year.
