Watching (my own) Steam games

Recommended Posts

I'm playing Assetto Corsa and I want to have a random monitor connected to one of the TV camera positions.

I can think of one of two ways to go about this:

- 1) Twitch

- 2) Steam home sharing, probably using the Steambox

I am, however, not able to find any reasonable documentation about what exactly is supported here. Questions include:

- is the Steambox only able to actually take over the game and play it (input included), or can it just join as an observer?

- do do Twitch, does the game have to support Twitch or is it transparent to the game?

- do I need separate accounts for the Twitch observer and the game? A quick setup of trying to watch myself in twitch, with the twitch client and the game logged into the same account, only got me that I'm not online.

Anybody tried this?

I'm not entirely sure I understand what you are trying to achieve? Do you wish to stream yourself playing the game on Twitch?

I want another screen with a different view, such as a camera position on the track.

I never used twitch, is twitch always sharing the actual gamer's screen or can it be fed other viewpoints?

I see what you mean, I don't think that is going to be possible, twitch just captures and streams whatever window you tell it to. Unless the game itself has some clever integration with the twitch api that I am not aware of I don't think you will be able to do this with twitch.

As for the steambox, I believe it is just for playing your pc games on your TV, so it will stream the current game footage and take over input

I think what I need to do is have an actual second PC with steam and the game join a race and then simply not drive, switching between the cameras.
