Moria soon on LS?

Recommended Posts

Does anybody follow +Cord of the rings (is it a blog or a podcast??)?  Its been mentioned on my kin's discord that there was a part of it concerning Moria on the LS.  I dont remember exact quote but it alluded to Moria happening sooner than later and some suggesting before the end of the month. Like predicted, SoA landscape is getting dull and losing players fast. Part of me wants Moria ASAP, and another part of me that just started an RK wouldnt mind a few more weeks to level him and get a few rifts out of him

It's some sort of shitty livestream he does of the game and it's mostly nonsense. There's no official summary of the few important parts he mentioned, so a few idiots expect you to have to sit through the whole tedious thing just to listen out to something that might be relevant. From what I remember of what was mentioned on the other forums, Moria is coming in "March-ish", which could mean anything, really. No idea if there's been any more since then, because I refuse to watch that shit.

Edit: I've put a thread out over there to see if anyone has anything. Not holding out much hope, though. From the figures on both YouTube and Twitch, pretty much nobody watches it.

I noticed CKA has been quoting Doro some these past two weeks. I was briefly tempted...

Then it passed.

CKA often chimes in soon after Doro - with more garbage - it probably drives her nuts that Doro doesn't respond

Sometimes I spot the little message saying "this member is on ignore" and think maybe I'll open this to have a look, but then I remember that there's probably nothing worth reading in it anyway and just scroll on by. It's been a much more pleasant experience.

It's nice to know that the giant woofers in Cordovan's van/server room didn't degauss the hard drives.

RIFT Prime is closing after one year.  I don't give the LS much longer than that--if it doesn't close sooner.  Moria was the first and last great expansion of the game.  I can't see people sticking around on the LS for what comes after.

I don't get the candle thing at all.

Literally just another fireworks thing. People light a candle, it leaves a patch of coloured light on the ground for it a bit, the casuals eat it up because it's something "different" and they're easily pleased.

The candles are to drop as you go through Moria so you don't get lost. SSG must think only a moron is going to fall for their LS scam so they need to provide additional help or peeps will never find Lothlorien.

Mind you it'll likely turn out to be the means of lagging out raid bosses as everyone in the raid drops candles and freezes the server.

But please don't tell me every numpty with a few bucks is going to be /emoting "You shall not pass" from the back of their bloody hobby horse. Good Grief!

Won't work very well since the candles only last a short time.  It would be like leaving bread crumbs behind you and having birds eat them after you leave.

It would be fun to use them with a large group in an PvP raid and make the game crash.

But for that you need large groups in ettenmoors (6+ people should be enough) and i doubt so many still play PvP :P

Cleared the Great Delving, did a slow run through the Silvertine Lodes, hit L54, solo'd the Forgotten Treasury with ease, and now I'm not really feeling it.

The landscape content isn't designed to handle a whole fucking server running it at once. People are having to spend ages waiting around for mobs to spawn because everyone else is one-shotting them ASAP. Fucking kill 15 glowing worms that are no where to be found because hunters and minstrels are nuking them before they even finish spawning? Some quest givers are also escort missions, so you fuck everyone else over by taking the quest and having them walk off. It's really every man for himself, and I don't have the patience for that bollocks. The devs apparently gave Moria a quick once over before this update, but it's like they didn't even think about how shitty the design all is.

Then there's instances. What reason is there to bother if they can be so easily solo'd? I'm guessing raids are just as easy for a group, and there's already plenty of L60s who just sat in the Mirobel instance and farmed the final room for XP. They rushed for the "server first" titles (which should be abolished, fuck that race), and are setting the precedent that 10 levels isn't enough to keep people interested for the next 4 months. Shit, it's not even been 4 days and I'm already getting put off with the LI system, AND the fucking skirmish soldier system they've chucked in at the same time.

Hello, my name is Mac and I did just watch the Friday live stream video.

The landscape/instances designed to cater for characters with a third of the strength they can have now. Instance mechanics broken by trait trees and threat changes.  It can only be for the abject failures the first time around who sucked so much they never got a group to take them along.

The last two years of reused content shows no sign of any "once overs" or play throughs.

One thought that did amuse me is that Dwinstrel, if he ever had a thought concerning build or gearing, will finally get access to the OP Loth jewels sets and be over level to use them. Ofc he'd have to find the barter npcs and that's not a given.

Cord is not willing to share any initial feedback on the 64-bit client currently on Palantir. No kidding!

Mac

Edit: if you hang out with an LM or hunter a pet or trap is ideal for tagging the mob you need, at least you have open tapping and failing that tabbing and going into auto ranged attack should be as fast as a mini or hunter skill firing.

This is exactly how WoW plays today, since they introduced the 'cross realm zones.'  There is ALWAYS someone right in front of your face, having cleared out all slow-respawning quest mobs 20 seconds prior to your arrival, or having just mined/gathered the crafting resource you went several minutes out of your way to get to, or having just turned in a quest to an NPC that despawns upon turnin.

Individually, those wasted seconds are trivial...but they add up.  Open tapping alleviates part of the frustration, but certainly not all, especially if there are no mobs up to tap.

As far as the LI system...well, that's what put me off with Moria years ago.  The prospect of being compelled to level up several different LIs at the same time for the sole purpose of destroying them for better stats on your next LI to level up...eyerolling stupidity.  My kinship was of a like mind, and by Mirkwood we dwindled from over 100 active players at launch to 3.

Ahh thats the emote from the 3.5K TP bundle? I was wondering what the fuck that was from, constantly filling my chat panel in the 21st. I got a tidy little sum of TP stored up, I sure as hell aint blowing on dwarf candles and an emote

Saw an LFF 1/3 for the watcher, brought that up in kin chat and was told it was solo'd by a bear...

I gave the Watcher a shot solo as a bear. I can confirm you can easily get through to the final stage with just purple quest gear and at L58, however trying to take down those damn tentacles before they start healing was impossible for me. His roar (which so often caused half a wipe in the old days) did a whole 1 point of damage to me, or got resisted. His attacks were so weak that I even went AFK suddenly during the fight, only to come back maybe 10 minutes later and find I was still alive. It took intentional effort on my part to get him to kill me so I could leave the instance, and even then it was difficult to do. I then joined a group to 6-man it and it was a breeze, with no need for tactics, no wipes, not a single death, and barely a word said between us. Just over and done with in about 5, maybe 10 minutes, then on our separate ways.

Tangentially, someone mentioned they would only do Watcher with a small group so there's less competition for the barter coin, but I can't see why they even want it in the first place. As I said, I'm in all purple quest gear, and the teal raid/instance gear in Moria is terrible in comparison. You take a huge hit in physical mastery and crit rating just for a little more morale. I've found it's better to just hit the phys mast and crit caps with purple armour pieces from quests and a few jewellery pieces to help that along (and it's pretty easy to do so), then simply stack finesse wherever you can. Even for my tank gear, I just stuck on a load of morale/vit pieces and ended up with 25k morale unbuffed, able to soak up damage like a sponge. Fuck, I even started getting some tactical mastery for a healing build just to see and ended up at the outgoing healing cap on that, too.

If people ever needed evidence that the devs don't play the game and are completely out of touch with it, Moria's re-release is a clear example.

They might want the gear for cosmetic reasons.  My Hunter is still using Moria gear as an outfit

That's really sad =/

It's a shame they never went back and reworked the SoA, MoM, and SoM gear when RoI released... but then again, they were all after the RoI and nothing else >.>

But we'll finally be able to quest together, weeeeee!.  It sucked when there were actual players and it sucks still.  No game ever conceived should create absolute hatred for other people.  The way MMOs work does exactly that.  Running around like an idiot for hours trying to kill 20 of something and then some a-hole comes along and kills them.
